  1. If the amp has a line out output you could do it, but you will not get the same sound as if the power output of the amp is driving matched speakers. If the amp does not have a lineout, then you would need an attenuator box or DI box that can take a powered signal and convert it to line level.
  2. I would not leave the pedal plugged in all the time. Plug it in only when you plan on using it. I assume this is for MIDI control of some device? I know it is not the answer you are looking for, but makes the most sense.
  3. Yes, I use Reaper, great full-featured DAW at a very good price. Check out the forums at homerecording.com for more information on 'doing it yourself' - lots of informative stuff. No, you can't use your FBV Mk2 as an interface - it is a controller only and does not convert audio to digital. You can use any of the Line 6 devices (like PODs) that have A-D converters, or any manufacturer's AI that has an instrument level input.
  4. Depending on the reverb there should be a 'dry' control as well, and from your description that control is zeroed.
  5. Just be careful about volume level from the IV - you could overdrive the input circuit of the Jam and blow out a component.
  6. If you plug headphones into the left jack do you get sound in both ears, and if so does volume control work normally?
  7. The FBV Express MkII is the least expensive optional control pedal to allow connection to a computer. The Infusion update includes more FX, not sure about more preset patches.
  8. All the electric guitars and bass parts on my last album were done with either my Spider IV 75 or PodFarm. :D Feel free to listen to them on my reverbnation page!
  9. Do you have a MkII FBV Express or Shortboard? This is how you plug the amp into your computer. To update the firmware, you first must register your gear with Line 6, then install Spider Monkey, then when you turn on Monkey it will find any needed updates for our equipment. Sounds like you may not have the Infusion update on your amp.
  10. How loud do you want to go? As GearHead suggest, maybe an active monitor or PA speaker will work fine for you. Depending on what you have plugging your HD500 into, you may need to adjust all your patches accordingly.
  11. I've heard of others with this problem, but never seen anything resolved. To me it sounds like there is a preset on in PodFarm doing this, or that the recorded signal is getting passed through PodFarm twice (distortion X distortion is never good) - ie recorded signal is 'wet', then it is put through the plug-in on playback. Have you tried recording a 'dry' guitar signal, then adding PodFarm (plug-in) after recording?
  12. Actually, you need to do this with the FBV NOT connected to the amp first, as you need to update the FBV firmware first. Depending on your O/S, you also need to turn off all firewall and anti-virus software, too.
  13. IF you have an FBV MkIi pedal, you can use the wah/volume pedal to moderate the volume. But as BillBee said, its a 120 watt monster, if you didnt' want that volume, you might have gone for the 75 (which can still get pretty loud!)
  14. Check your channel volume settings on any patches where this is happening - if you have the channel volume WAY up, this is possible. Yes the 120 is loud!
  15. What device are you trying to control with the FBV? It's really made for switching patches in a Spider IV amp, and as communication device between a Spider IV and computer for using the Spider Edit program and doing firmware updates. Many times the problem with Monkey IDing the device is due to firewall and anti-virus blocking software.
  16. Is one (or two) of the 'feet' missing? Maybe your floor is not even?
  17. You need to choose the 2i2 as your recording device in Cubase. Usually WIndows will not recognize two USB audio devices at the same time, so this may be your problem. Try plugging your guitar directly into the 2i2 and see if you get a signal in Cubase that way.
  18. When you have the USB plugged in, the FBV only acts as a communication device between your computer and your amp. You can 'audition' a tone/patch in Spider Edit with your amp but you can't affect it with the switches or pedal.
  19. I don't believe the firmware gets updated by the factory, you need to use an FBV MkII to update your firmware.
  20. I'm afraid you'll need to bring it to an authorized service center - there may be components burned out.
  21. Any chromatic tuner should work. Try the Korg Pitchblack Chromatic (or the Poly, which has a Chromatic mode).
  22. Definitely not! The Bogner looks like it takes a 1/4" (probably TRS) plug for remote switching. The MKII has a CAT5 connection for control of the Spider functions.
  23. In general, PCs only allow one audio device (and its drivers) at a time. You might be able take the audio output from the Pod to the audio input of your interface to drive the monitors (as in direct input monitoring).
  24. You posted this in the Spider IV part of the forum, try here: http://line6.com/support/forum/25-spider-valve/
  25. You could try copying all the settings onto your amp by viewing them in Spider Edit. Remember that you will not have the Infusion update in your amp, so may not have all of the FX to copy the tones.
