  1. Hi, Sounds like a glitch! Try doing a reset on your hardware to see if it blows the bugs out. Also, ensure that your version of HXEdit is the same as your Stomp Box Firmware. HX Stomp Button Combination Description All 3 Footswitches Clears all presets/IRs FS1+2 Resets presets and IRs FS 2+3 Factory restore (globals, presets, IRs) Power off the Helix Hold the desired button combination Power on the Helix Release the button combination Hope this helps/makes sense
  2. Well you asked for it! Go here, http://benvesco.com/store/line-6-helix/ Scroll down the page and find the link: Download deleted factory presets Unpack the zip file and the preset you are looking for is in TEMPLATES from update 2.21.0 32D Snapshot 2: No! USE WITH CAUTION - TURN YOUR VOLUME WAY DOWN BEFORE ENGAGING THIS PRESET! I ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR DAMAGE TO HEARING OR EQUIPMENT - YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
  3. Hi, Just a thought and I’m not in the studio for a while, so I can’t check if this happens with my own JTV59. I would be curious to know if this issue occurs when the input is set to Variax rather than Multi?
  4. Ah. Now I understand. Not a plug-in that I knew about, but it looks interesting. Have fun.
  5. Well now he's up to 87 views. The guy doesn't tell us to much about how he got on with loading the v2.81.1 firmware patch on his LT. You know, any glitches and important stuff like did he back up all his presets, if he did he probably just needs to do a "Global Reset" on the hardware by holding down FS5&6 while powering up. Once he has blown the bugs out he should only have to reload his setlists minus the one that has the flakey presets. If that's the case, it's a question of reloading all 128 slots (if he used them all) from his original back-up files. I mean he did back them up - right? If you look at the screen on his LT when he is showing the corrupted stuff, look in the top right hand corner along side the Snapshot Icon is the Icon for Global EQ. He never mentions how, or why it is on, so I guess he didn't reset the box. Why is it that when there is a gig coming up, or you rely on some hardware to earn a living, people will insist on installing untried new software or firmware. I mean... the bleeding edge?
  6. Somebody may understand what you want to achieve, but I'm sorry I have no idea what you are actually asking. Baffled? I am. If you want to try a VST plug in, then you need to have a DAW or a standalone app that can host the plug in. May be you could expand on what you want to do and what computer system you are going to be using. Help us to help you.
  7. Hi, Just for clarification, I would guess that you mean either "Soundflower", "Soundflowerbed" or even "Loopback" - all of which would be unnecessary on a Mac as Helix shows up as an 8 in/8 out USB device. On a Mac you can play all your iTunes, YouTube, and backing tracks straight out of Helix without issues. Furthermore the OP states using the earphone socket on his phone, although he doesn't specify a brand. If it's an iPhone then the Apple Camera Connection Kit is the simple solution. Hope this makes sense.
  8. Well that's a first. I have never heard of anyone wiping their own custom patches with a Global Reset - unless, of course, what you really mean is "User Error"? It is possible to do a Global Reset without erasing user presets by holding down FS 5&6 while powering up your Helix. Here’s a list of Reset Options if you need them, which I guess you do! Make a copy, print it out and keep it in your gig bag! Helix Floor/LT Button Combination Description 2 LED light Fun 3 & 4 Test Mode 5 & 6 Global reset 7 & 8 Reset setlists to factory, Keep IRs 8 & 9 Reset setlists to factory, Clear IRs 9 & 10 Reset setlists to factory, Global reset, Clear IRs 10 & 11 Upgrades existing presets to latest format 11 & 12 Clear current preset 5 & 12 Clear setlists, clear IRs, Return system settings to default 6 & 12 Safe boot mode To use Reset Options: Power off the Helix Hold the desired button combination Power on the Helix Release the button combination Please note: Buttons are numbered from top left to bottom right. Hope this helps/makes sense
  9. Or one that is definitely known to work. :-)
  10. Even better than reading about it - watch how it's done.
  11. Hi Tim, Now I know you’re running Widows 10, my suspicions are it is possibly the drivers. There are many comments on this forum about the drivers getting screwed up with the 2.80/2.81 firmware installation. IIRC, it’s possible to run the Line 6 HX Edit installer and just install the required drivers. Also, as suggested by “Peter” in the post above, try another USB port - preferably one on the rear of the computer as the ones on the front act like a hub and that’s frowned upon. USB it notoriously flakey and using a different cable and port can produce the required voodoo. Hope this helps/makes sense.
  12. Hi, Your description is a little unclear, but if you have updated to v2.81 HX Edit you will have difficulties if it is still open when you try to run the Line 6 Updater. You must ensure that HX Edit is closed before trying to connect, in fact, try not to have anything open that may interfere with the update process. Other than that, important stuff to mention when asking for assistance is what computer and OS you’re using. Hope this helps / makes sense.
  13. Hi, I would always prefer Ethernet as a more stable connection, so use that to connect all the time you are using the trial HNX and you should be fine. If you decide to buy, once you computer is authorised, you no longer need to be connected all the time. Glad to know that you are finally up and running - have fun.
  14. Sorry that’s all I have at the moment, but Native can be really awkward on some systems, although it’s more usual trouble with Windows machines. Getting the Demo to function on a Mac is generally painless as long as you keep connected to the internet while using it. Luckily, that restriction is removed once you buy it.
  15. Nah! What you really want is a Cynthia Size “A” Stick one of these in your FX loop, that would open up a whole new world of tonal flavors.
  16. Hey, AA, Just to clarify, the Pilot's Guide is built in to HXN and available via the Question Mark Icon at the side of the Cog Icon. O.K. Yes, you will lose all your custom presets if you load the new 1.8 Factory presets. So make a back up. The way to handle this is in exactly the same way as you would with HX Edit. You can export your individual presets, or as separate setlists, or as a complete bundle. Going for individual presets or setlists is probably the best option. Then you can safely load the new Factory stuff which occupy setlists 1 & 2 and the new Templates in the last setlist. You can then populate the other slots with your own creations or downloads from custom tone. Furthermore, there is no guarantee that you will like the latest Factory offerings so you can always delete them. Note: make sure that you set your preferences to save the presets with Helix compatibility, if that’s your hardware, otherwise compatibility with Stomp, or whatever. Regarding Line 6 Customtone, of course any patches created using the latest Firmware are not backwardly compatible with earlier versions. Therefore any preset made by HXN or a hardware Helix using 1.8 & 2.8 or higher cannot be opened on anything running 2.71 or earlier. Any patches from earlier firmware will load into the latest firmware version and be rebuilt internally to work as normal. Hope this helps/makes sense. P.S. All this information is available in the Helix Native Owner’s Manual/Pilot’s Guide- You may need to refer to it for clarification.
  17. Hi again to the first person in the phone book, First, yes there is - it’s built into HX Native and located where it always has been - click on the Gear icon. Or get it here. https://www.dropbox.com/s/vyl0t55jlcd1ijk/Helix Native Pilot's Guide.pdf?dl=0 New Factory Presets. Once again, this is easy - the new stuff is already in Native - you simply need to load it in where it occupies the the first 2 Factory Setlists and Templates, then you can reload your stuff into the other setlists or dispose of the new patches if you want to. The instructions for this were included the Release Notes - You did read those didn’t you? STEP 1b—Backing Up Helix Native If you don't currently own Helix Native, skip this step. Open any instance of YOUR CURRENT VERSION of Helix Native (NOT the new Helix Native 1.81) within your DAW and click the "My Account" button in the lower left corner to open the Preferences window. From the General tab, click "Export Bundle." Choose the destination folder and click "Save." TIP: If you want to load the 2.8X factory presets, it's better to manually back up individual setlists, so you can later import them into empty setlists. To do this, from the preset library along the left side, select the setlist you want to back up and click the small yellow "Export." Choose a destination folder and click "Save." Repeat for any other setlists you want to back up. STEP 4—OPTIONAL: Loading the 2.8X Factory Presets/Templates IMPORTANT! The following procedure will COMPLETELY ERASE ALL OF YOUR CUSTOM PRESETS! If you want to keep them, make sure you back them up first! (See "STEP 1a—Backing Up Helix/HX Hardware" above.) Turn off your Helix/HX processor. Depending on your type of Helix/HX product, follow the procedure below: Helix Floor/LT—While holding footswitches 7 and 8 (two left-most switches on the bottom row), turn on Helix/Helix LT. Wait for "Will restore stock Presets and Setlists..." and let go Helix Rack/Control—While holding knobs 3 and 4 below the screen, turn on Helix Rack. Wait for "Will reset Presets..." and let go HX Effects—While holding footswitches 5 and 6 (middle two switches on the bottom row), turn on HX Effects. Wait for "Will reset Presets..." and let go HX Stomp—While holding footswitches 1 and 2, turn on HX Stomp. Wait for "Will reset Presets..." to appear on the screen and let go Helix Native—Click the gear icon in the lower left corner to open the Preferences window. From the Presets/IRs tab, click "Restore Factory Setlists" Then this STEP 5b—OPTIONAL: Restoring Helix Native from a Backup If you don't currently own Helix Native, skip this step. Open any instance of Helix Native within your DAW and click the gear icon in the lower left corner to open the Preferences window. From the Presets/IRs tab, click "Import Bundle." Browse to the location chosen in STEP 2 above and click "Open." Hope this helps/make sense BTW. The title states “Helix Native 1.8 idea”. What idea?
  18. Hi, Sorry for the delayed response. This is is a real odd one and what I would ask is, do you have anything running on your Mac that may interfere with any internet connection - usual suspects are Radio Silence and Little Snitch. For the purposes of getting Native to log-in you could turn off or disable any firewall or anti-virus which may block the process (one completed you can turn it back on). Also, sometimes Apple’s own System software can jump on install packages which it decides are from an “unknown source”, essentially anyone but Apple. The suggestion to “make sure your wifi is on" is a little insulting as you obviously managed to get an email through to Support. When installing this stuff it is probably best practice to only have the installer package running in the Finder. If everything else is off there is nothing to mess with the routine. If you have an Ethernet connection to the internet it may be more stable than WiFi, so you could try that. I know that it’s a drag, but a complete uninstall and reinstall along with a restart of your Mac between each process may blow the bugs out along with disabling any possible interference may be worth a try. Unless “soundog” reads this and can jump in with a simple solution, but I have noticed him post for a couple of days. It’s not much, but hope this is some help.
  19. Ha ha ha, months away! That one doesn't work with me, I'm many years the other side – you are a mere child yet.
  20. Hi, Step 4 of the Release Notes was the bit where it mentions installing the new Factory Presets, it also warns that it will erase all you custom presets if you chose that option. ;-)
  21. Not possible! The Mac download is a .dmg file – a disk image The Window download is .exe file – an executable file It couldn't happen, but you may be suffering delusions? ;-)
  22. Hi, I find this rather odd. Why would you need to change you user name and password to run Native. Your user name and password must be functional, because you have managed to post here. You are using a Mac High Sierra and GarageBand which should be fine, but you say that you cannot get beyond signing into the plugin. From that info it's difficult to visualise at what exact point the plugin fails. I assume that you get to the point where it says "Connecting to Server" and asks "Please sign-in to your Line 6 Account", which then never gets to the "Authorise this Computer" or Select Demo Option? Please advise - more info required to assist any further
  23. Hi, Not really, other than a small glitch with the Joystick and because of a recent repair it made me regress to v.2.71 just to confirm it wasn’t a hardware thing. Reloaded 2.8 - glitch gone and the whole thing of going back and forth took less than an hour, if that. File under - mostly harmless!
  24. That's true - and a perfectly good comment, that cannot be faulted, and similar to the one which I think I pointed out by stating: "Although there does appear to be some people having problems with drivers on some Windows PCs" When you read this some of the stuff on the forums, there did appear to be a lot of wailing and gnashing of teeth from people claiming that "Line 6 had bricked their Helix". That's a totally ludicrous comment to make about the people who designed this box of tricks. Why would they do that, it wasn't a deliberate act of sabotage. I would imaging that a lot of this noise stemmed from the same crowd who were baying for Line 6 to release the beast all the way back to January. Maybe they should be more careful what they wish for, take more care over the installation and preferably RTFI. Oh, yeah the firmware with the goodies is free!
