  1. Wha What effect/model blocks do you have in your signal chain, specifically the ones that are running to your amp effects loop since you said those are the ones that are too hot?
  2. You can set it to instrument level to see if that fixes it.
  3. I noticed that if I have my preset output set to multi and in Global Settings>Ins Outs>Headphones Monitor set to Multi, the output to the phones is quite high. I set the headphones monitor to just XLR the output goes down because it is not "layering" the additional outputs.

    Octo Reverb

Octo reverb has been on the Helix since the beginning, they just now put it in the "Legacy" category since the new reverbs were released on 2.50. I used it quite a bit. The wet reverb signal is an octave above the dry signal, giving it a "synthy" kind of sound.
  5. Which effects are too loud: the effects you put in front of your amp or the ones in the effects loop? If the ones in front of your amp are too loud, they may not be set for instrument level.
  6. There's a thread pinned towards the top concerning expression pedal maintenance
  7. You need to spread out into path 2, where the 2nd DSP lives. My large presets have preamp effects and amp in path 1, and post amp effects, cabs/irs, post cab effects in path 2.
  8. I use the Marshall Basketweave, Hiwatt, Dr Z, and a few others I can't think of at the moment. They work well for clean/low gain stuff for me.
  9. It's an Apple product so you should be able to find the same thing there.
  10. Like pBatts said... The lag you hear is switching between presets. Explore the manual and Youtube about snapshots. You will still be able to do midi with snapshots, but without the lag when changing presets.
  11. I connect XLR mic level to a Behringer X32 board, with Helix volume knob controlling volume set about 2:00. No clipping issues at the board, not sure what the gain is set at though. I'll take a look this weekend.
  12. Yes, that is why I think 3rd party IRs seem to do this better with the frequency response being more "baked in". The on board cabs don't seem to react that way and tend to need the cuts. I am not an expert in the subject though, but it is just something I have noticed and compensate for sometimes as necessary to my ears.
  13. I use both. Sometimes only onboard cabs, sometime just 3 Sigma IRs, sometimes both at the same time.
  14. High pass at 8k should not get you the "pillow over speaker" effect. Look at the frequency response of some "real" guitar cab speakers. Take the Celestion v30 for example. It starts to drop dramatically at 5kHz. Take a look at the link below. I generally run my high cuts on cab block or IR at about 5.5-7kHz depending on the cab/IR. If that doesn't work for me, I'll tweak an eq block to try to mimic the speaker frequency response. I never really have to do that with IRs, but sometimes with on board cabs. https://celestion.com/product/1/vintage_30/

    Update 2.50 Help!

Open a support ticket with Line 6 to help you get it sorted.
  16. An A/B box and HXFX is still pretty easy to stash in a small bag for fly dates, still smaller than Helix Floor or LT.
  17. Open a support ticket with Line 6. It is probably hardware (the push button) related.
  18. Do you have monitors connected to your Helix or to your Scarlette interface?
  19. I had a cheap generic one that stopped working a few iOS versions ago. I bought one of these and am good to go. https://www.amazon.com/Apple-MK0W2AM-Lightning-Camera-Adapter/dp/B01F7KJDIM/ref=sr_1_3?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1518723166&sr=1-3&keywords=apple+lightning+camera+adapter
  20. Yup, going from a "real amp" uni-tasker to a modeled version that is a multi-tasker. The beauty of digital modeling!
  21. No. The magic is using the guitar input on the Helix itself (A/D). The magic is not in the D/A after the fact. Connect your monitors to the Helix and run USB to your Mac/PC. When you are laying down a track in your DAW, mute that track so you don't get weird latency/time phasing. Helix is your interface, you don't NEED a third party interface. You certainly can use the third party interface and connect Helix to is via XLR if you want though.
  22. You can leave XLR L/R connected and they will be in stereo. If you just connect the 1/4" L (mono) it should automatically sum to mono so you don't have to do anything in your signal chain programming to make it happen.
