What version of Pod Farm came bundled with your original UX-1?
-
You can use the UX2 if you want, but you don't need to. You can record directly to Reaper using the HD Bean. Connect the HD to your computer via usb, and configure Reaper to use the Pod HD and its ASIO driver as the audio input/output device. Monitor your sound using the Pod HD outputs (e.g. headphones).

The device retains the current setlist between off/on cycles. So the setlist that gets loaded is the one that was active when the device was powered off. There is no 'default' setlist in that sense.
-
The Pod HD can be set to use FS5-8 either to control on/off for FX within a preset, or to switch among presets within the current bank. You cannot use a footswitch to control a parameter value such as drive level/setting; you do that with the exp pedal. However, you can do what you want by using two presets: one with the drive off/low and another with the drive at your desired increased level. All other preset settings remain the same. That way you 'can step on the button and increase the drive'.

I really can't hear any difference. All really hi-gain stuff sounds fizzy to me. Maybe just my ears/age?

Vote For A Lefty James Tyler Variax
silverhead replied to Amperzand's topic in James Tyler Variax Guitars / Workbench HD
The above was edited (bold text) to reflect the feelings of tall people. Additional versions of this story are invited from people with big feet wanting a broad selection of shoe styles, left-handed golfers, broad-shouldered people wanting a variety of good-fitting men's suits, heavy set women who would like to buy lululemon wear, and the many other sets of people whose physical characteristics place them in a relative minority.- 52 replies

Pod Hd500 Latency.
silverhead replied to DjacobCaine's topic in Computer Audio Setup and Troubleshooting
You should be using the Line 6 ASIO device driver. In Reaper, configure your audio system settings to use the Pod HD500 and its ASIO driver as the audio input and output device. -
I think there's no need for concern. There is little or no product support going on in Customtone - it is simply a user-populated repository that has no Line 6 moderators. Line 6 has already created (or purchased) the Customtone database and the engine that drives it. That work/expense is already done, and what little maintenance and support is required will be provided as long as there are supported Line 6 products that use it. It would require actual work for Line 6 to remove the legacy presets/tones. And it requires no work to leave them there. So I expect they will remain.

What ASIO driver are you using? How are you monitoring your sound? -

Hold down the left nav key while powering up. If it still doesn't start up, it should display a test screen. While this is displayed, run Line 6 Monkey and reinstall the firmware. Hopefully you have recent backup of your presets? -
Yes you can do that. You don't need to use the FX loop. Just connect your chapman outputs to the guitar and aux inputs on the pod and select these inputs as input 1 and Input 2 in your pod preset. When you actually have the pod to play with you can come back here for more info on how to keep your two paths completely independent in terms of the signal processing.

How Those The Mic Input On X3 Or Hd500,or Hd500x Really Works?

What is it that you want to know? Do you have a specific question? -
How Those The Mic Input On X3 Or Hd500,or Hd500x Really Works?
silverhead replied to xaelgt's topic in POD HD
I don't know if there are videos specifically on the mic inputs, but here's how they are used: - you need to use dynamic mics, not condenser mics. None of the devices you list provide the phantom power required for condenser mics. - connect the mic cable to the MIC input on the device - select Mic as an input for the preset on the device. For X3 select Mic as either Tone 1 or Tone 2 input. For Pod HD select Mic as Input 1 or Input 2. - adjust the Trim knob on device to get a good signal level. This knob is beside the MIC input. - apply your desired amp/FX processing for the mic channel on the device. -
How Do I Set Volume Levels For The Different Guitar Model Amps?
silverhead replied to davidmcginnis's topic in JM4 Looper
There is no overall volume leveling/balancing. You need to manually edit the Volume setting(s) on each preset to balance them to your liking. Turn the softer presets up, and turn the louder presets down. -
It depends on how you are monitoring your sound. What X3 outputs are you using, and what are they connected to? If you are going direct to a mixer, PA, or studio monitors you should be using Studio/Direct output mode on the X3. If you are connecting to a guitar amp you should use one of the Live output modes.

Check the Mixer on the Pod HD and make sure it is centered.

meambobbo - I'm glad you found something you prefer, given you were experiencing frustration with the Pod. I don't know whether this means we'll be seeing less of you here, but I hope not. Your contributions here have been substantial, particularly your excellent and detailed online Pod HD guide. Let me take this opportunity to thank you again for that, and to say I hope that you can leave it available online for Pod users (and perhaps even to continue to maintain it if/when new firmware is released that might impact the guide). How Do You Clear Tones Other People Have Entered Into Hd500
silverhead replied to diodeblue's topic in POD HD
Two ways: - overwrite them with your preferred tones. The easiest way to do this is with HD500 Edit; or - reinstall the device firmware. Use Line 6 Monkey to do this. When prompted, choose NOT to keep existing tones/presets. This will install the factory setlists and several blank/empty User setlists. Before doing this, backup any presets/setlists that you may want to keep. -
I have done that. It matches up very well. I have since used the HD500 tuner to make minor adjustments to intonation, with good results. Probably not exact if you put a strobe on it, but close enough for me not to notice anything badly out of tune up and down the neck.

Oh - I missed that part in your earlier post(s). I agree the Variax 300 playability left a lot to be desired. That's why I too transplanted Variax 300 electronic into a custom Warmoth build; that's why/when I was ordering the parts. I ended up with a superb guitar - that I almost never play now since I got my Korean JTV-59. It's every bit as playable as the Warmoth, sounds even better with V2.0 firmware, and is more flexible with the alternate tunings available on all models. It inspires me.
-
Who's forcing you? Why not just play a guitar you like instead of an awful uninspiring one?
-
There are two guitars playing. The one that is in standard tuning can still be heard by your ears - the strings on the guitar are vibrating in standard tuning. The other guitar you are hearing is the virtual one that has been dropped down a half step. You need to turn up the volume of the modeled sound (your amp / monitors) so that you can no longer hear the natural string acoustic vibrations. Or you can wear headphones. To test this, try recording a bit of your playing. You won't hear the standard tuning on playback - only the modeled (alternate tuning) sound is recorded.
