  1. I suspect this is like looking for a needle in a hay-stack.. On the off extreme off chance, is anyone using their Helix to control their Bogner Hafler Triple Giant via Midi? I'm planning on using it in a 4CM type setup with a power amp. I guess I'm just curious to see if anyone has had any success in getting it to change channels via midi with their Helix. Thanks. (NOTE, I really don't expect many replies given the rarity of this unit, however any help or input is appreciated!)
  2. Hi. I own Helix LT with the latest firmware. I use it with my DAW. The Helix is set to receive tempo from the DAW via midi cable connections. It works but the issue is the tempo in Helix is not in sync with the DAW. Sometimes the tempo is spot on and in sync. Most of the times the tempo is correct but not in sync. Sometimes the tempo doesn't match by 1 or 2 bpm. Does anybody use this feature and working correctly? Is there a workaround? The exact same thing happened with my POD HD500X and I never got it to work. I ended up sending MIDI CC messages of tap tempo to the pod.
  3. I'm pretty sure there's currently not a way to do this, but is anyone aware of a way to trigger specific notes in the 3 Note Generator via MIDI note on/off messages from an external controller such as a sequencer or keyboard controller? I know Helix can transmit note on messages via footswitch assignments, but can it receive and interpret/apply them? If not, is that a feature that could be implemented in a future firmware release?
  4. I just got a Helix and I'm liking it ok by it's self, but I'm running into some midi issues that are getting a little frustrating. I want to set it up to control my Strymon Mobius, TimeLine, and BigSky with midi without having to dedicate a loop to each. Here's where I'm at and maybe someone can suggest a way I can get this to work. I did have the Helix set up using the 4 cable method with my amp in loop 1. The 3 strymon pedals above are in loop 2 all assigned to their own midi channels. I also have a poly tune set up in loop 3 to be always on (the Helix tuner isn't that great). I have a Riverside OD set up in Loop 4 with the favorite function being controlled using the CV connector on Helix. With it set up like this I can get everything to work in stomp box mode without any problems excluding the lights on the Helix sometimes getting out of sync with the pedal. For example pedal is bypassed but the Helix light for that channel is illuminated (no big deal, I can live with this minor issue). I used midi CC# 80,81, and 82 to toggle the Strymon pedals A and B (and C on BigSky) buttons. The problems began when I started to set up Snapshots. I tried using the Instant commands to bring up a patch on a desired pedal using the midi program function 1, 2, 3, 4 etc. That method would bring up patches ok but when I toggled through the Snapshots some of the presets would be on when I didn't want them to be and would then toggle off when I wanted them to be on etc... After a little more research I found out that I needed a bypass command to apply before the new preset could be commanded on. After research I found out that Helix can't change CC# with snapshots, only the values within a CC. After finding this out I decided to go a different route. Now, Try 2... I've got the Helix completely reset to factory defaults. I cleared all blocks on the first preset and started fresh. I wired all strymon pedals in their own FX Loop so I can toggle off by bypassing the the block (I hate to loose the 4 cable method here, but I guess I can live with that for now). Ive set them up in stomp box mode and got everything working just as I had last time. Now on the the Snapshots I run into problems again. I would save each snapshot by going into stomp box mode and toggle on what I wanted then save each accordingly. Doing that I got the Mobius and Timeline to work, BUT the BigSky wants to be a BigPain in the ....... !! This pedal will not respond correctly no matter what channel its on, what program# I choose, even the CC80, 81, and 82 for the bank buttons. For example, If I toggle on a preset in bank A it will toggle that on and off when commanded to toggle Bank C. If I press the Bank A button on the Bigsky to switch it back to that bank it will work for a couple of snapshot changes and then back to the wrong preset. Sometimes it works fine going from Snaphot 1 to 2 to 3, but when I go from 3, to 2, to 1 it gets all messed up again. It's completely erratic behavior and I can't duplicate the issue to track down a solution. I've checked the commands on each snapshot and they are correct and set up the same as the TimeLine and Mobius. I've gone into global settings on the BigSky and Helix and tried different combinations as well as a factory reset on the BigSky, same thing. Any ideas??? I'm really hoping to get this resolved because I really want to keep the Helix as part of my rig. If not I'll ditch it for a Mastermind PCB. Sorry for the novel!
  5. Hey There! Love love love my Helix. However, I noticed a feature that I REALLY need regarding the Midi CC Command for footswitches. There is no Dim Value for these which is problematic. I'm trying to control my Boss RC-505 looper through Midi and it works great EXCEPT it will only fire the the first time. Any subsequent commands are permenentaly stuck at whatever MIDI value I sent it rather than going back to zero so it can reset for the next command firing. If I can get a DIM value, like on the Midi Toggle but for the Momentary MIDI CC command that would really make my rig a dream come true. I figure that'd be an easy thing to add in a future update but I could be wrong. What are the chances of that happening?

    Midi in snaphots

I own a Hughes & Kettner Tubemeister 36 and I am using it via the 4 cable method with my Helix. The Tubemeister can be controlled via Midi – I succeeded in changing the Tubmeister's sound from Clean to Crunch and Lead with the footswitches in Helix. I used the CommandCenter to assign the footswitches to the amp's channels. But what I want to do either is to create different sounds with the Helix‘ snapshot feature. Is it possible to send an Midi command (e. g. for the Clean channel) to the amp when activating Snapshot 1, another Midi command (e. g. for the Crunch channel) on Snapshot 2, etc.? I did not find any option to assign a Midi command to a snapshot … Thanks for your answers! Ulf
  7. Hey guys, my issue is this: I need to get my Helix to tell my Voodoo Lab control switcher to switch channels on my mesa boogie Roadster. I'm currently using the Helix with the four cable method. What i'd like to be able to do is change channels per snapshot within a preset. For example, snapshot 1 is clean on channel 1, snapshot 2 is grit on channel 2, etc. What I'm doing is going into the command center and using the instant messages to try to accomplish this. If I select the 1st lightning bolt and set the CC# to 80 it should turn on channel 1 via the control switcher. I've had limited success in doing this. Next, I go into snapshot 2 and then click command center and select the next lightning bolt and set a new CC# for that and save. I do the same thing for the next two snapshots (I've got the top switches set to stompbox mode). What I cannot understand is why the Helix doesn't allow you to select the first lightning bolt only for snapshot 1, the second lightning bolt only for snapshot 2, etc., just as you would do for effects and other parameters. It appears as though the Helix is sending all 4 messages at once no matter what snapshot I'm in. The result is that I cannot get it to work with the Voodoo Lab Control Switcher and it's absolutely essential that I figure out how to do it. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm beyond frustrated.
  8. Is it possible to plug in a Digitech MC7 midi footswitch into the midi in of the pod hd to control it? For example, I need to change presets quickly on stage and I've had this footswitch laying around. I have searched for hours on the subject and there is very little information regarding it... Thanks for any help.
  9. I have a set list that mimics the first 16 banks of the Firehawk. All is functional and named in pedal. Don't know if I can share a set list with anyone but would love to. I'm currently working on the next 16 banks for full control. Effects vol and wah all work from pedal with a single midi cable . Any one interested let me know. Flash
  10. I updated my Helix to version 2.21. Everything seems to be fine, except that I play with my Roland GR-55 guitar synthesiser connected to my Helix. Whenever I change my patch on the Helix, it would immediately change the patch on the GR-55, as I have configured the Helix to do. This, however, no longer seems to work since I upgraded to version 2.21. Am I missing something? Does anyone have any ideas?
  11. Has anyone had any success in getting the Helix to pass through MIDI Song Select messages? Background - I'm trying to set up some automation in my rig, including getting my drum machine to select the correct song. It's a Boss DR-3, needs a MIDI Song Select (i.e, F3 xx) message to work properly. I've struck out in getting the Helix to pass that message through. Anyone have any insight on this? I've tried sending the initial messages to the Helix via both USB and MIDI, doesn't make a different in what gets passed through. Also - my Helix MIDI global settings are (tho I've tried just about every combination) - MIDI Thru - ON - MIDI Over USB - ON - MIDI PC Receive - Both - MIDI PC Send - Both
  12. I am trying to control the amp channel via MIDI (in addition to the '4 cable method'): eg. Clean patches should use the clean amp channel. When you use any patch or foot switch on the HD500, a MIDI signal is sent that you cannot edit of disable (I think). I believe this is so that any other connected Line 6 gear knows what the HD500 is doing. Unfortunately some of these signals (eg from the Loop footswitch) change settings on my amp (a Blug amp1). Does the Helix and/or LT send these sorts of MIDI signals for other Line 6 gear? Can they be controlled?
  13. Hello everyone, I have 2 x POD HD500s, my original road-worn thing with broken pots and jacks etc and a near-new one I have just bought. I would like to somehow link them together so that the new one will control both PODs with the output of both being available at the 1/4" outs of one only. Any tips from anyone...? Many Thanks, Anthony (Australia)
  14. Hello! I am trying to get an expression pedal to work on my m5 by going through a midi controller. Not sure where i'm going wrong. I am using an ex-1 > decibel 11/switch dr. (cc#1) > m5 via midi. I can change presets with no problem but can't get the expression pedal to work. Any ideas out there. Your ideas and time are greatly appreciated!!
  15. Hi. One of my bandmates is searching for a minimal-solution to get his ENGL E660 Savage SE noiseless, which produces a lot of noise in HighGain. The ENGL E660 Savage SE has a MIDI-Switch which allows to switch up to 4 chanels. The Floarboard would be connected to the effect-send/return of the amp. The budget device we are searching for should offer… MIDI-Send to switch the 4 amp chanels min. 4 footswitches for direct choice of 4 patches / chanels a descent Noisegate a descent Delay / Reverb maybe a Tuner Which L6 Device would be the way to go in your opinion? The POD XT Live, the M9 or something completely different?
  16. Hey everyone, I'm looking into purchasing a chase bliss audio brothers pedal to add to my board. I haven't used the midi commands on the Helix to control any external pedals and wondered if these two were compatible. Not sure if this is a obvious or not but I haven't worked much with midi controls and want to start utilizing this ability in the helix. I like the Idea of being able to switch banks on the chase bliss pedal from the Helix. Anyone have experience with this one? Thanks.
  17. Hey guys! I'm running an X3 Live pedalboard when I'm playing live. I've done a little bit research already, but am a little confused. I'm trying setup changing my patches via MIDI from Ableton or Logic, preferably Ableton in a live situation. I've brought a USB MIDI cable (attached a picture), but not sure if I'm doing it wrong or even if I have the right sort of cable. Any help or tips would be really appreciated! Thanks
  18. When I plug in the usb to the computer, it always shows all buttons as unassigned in the foot control application. I've tried on both mac and windows to set everything to custom Midi CC controls and save the default file. But when I unplug the usb cable and reseat it to confirm the device has captured the settings, it reverts back to unassigned. Is the device broken? Am I missing a step?
  19. Look that pretty FBV 3... easily the most appealing MIDI foot controller out there. But they have again missed the opportunity to have the best MIDI foot controller by omitting MIDI DIN connections. You still can get a MIDI-USB to MIDI-DIN converter as the Kenton MIDI USB Host MKII but... at 125€. A very expensive price for a device that only does one thing. But .. what would have been the supplement in the price of the FBV3 if already included MIDI DIN In/Out? Probably just a few dollars. At least they are considering adding the possibility of changing the color of the LEDs, based on the proposal I made in ideascale. But it bothers me a lot to have to spend 125 € extra on a fcking USB converter due to a bad design decision, which in addition they have already committed many times, again and again, with all those prior FBVs. All this could also be applied to the Helix controller, of course. Here the case is even more blatant, because it can not even be used as a USB MIDI controller. Guys, have you seen the sad panorama regarding MIDI foot controllers? Old models such as the Boss FC-300 or the Yamaha MFC10, expensive and limited. Or other very expensive artifacts offered by esoteric brands... When you have the one (or two) that could be the best MIDI foot controler in the market, only if you add MIDI DIN inputs and outputs. You also missed the IOS connectivity by ommiting a direct standard 9V AC connector. (as the ipad cannot feed enough juice to the FBV3 thru USB) Why, Line 6, WHY? What strange reasoning has led you to omit such things?
  20. I am wondering if the Helix will route through MIDI commands from its hardware MIDI connectors over USB to an iPad? I already have the Helix hooked up to an iPad Mini 2 via USB (and the camera connection adapter), and using MIDI from Helix to control the iPad works great. However, I would like more footswitches. I would like to hook up an additional MIDI foot controller to the Helix's MIDI ports, and have those commands passed through the Helix over USB to the iPad to control various apps. Is this possible? Trying to see if this will work before I shell out the cash for a controller. Thanks!
  21. Thinking about buying a Helix and have a question.... can the Helix send midi signals to my mesa TC-50 and replace my 6 button footswitch.... it controls the 3 channels, fx loop, reverb, and solo volume controls. Id like to get where i could push a switch on the Helix and have it include all the effects i want and also send cc signals to my amp( to change channels for example). Im thinking i would just need to attach a MIDI cable from the out of the helix, to the MIDI in of my amp. Regards, Hans
  22. Hello Does anyone try amplifi fx100 or firehawk to connect livid instruments guitar wing with wireless or bluetooth connection? is it possible? I use guitar wing with ipad app. thanks.
  23. hi people, nice community here have been fan from line 6 since my beginning i've seen it grow. I'm getting my self in the recording world i start easy and affordable, did some research and stumble across Studio one 3 really popular among starter (me). But i did have a tiny problem, studio 3 can't see my line 6 pod hd pro (probably cause i'm doing it wrong ). Hope someone here could help me BTW S/o from #MTL :)
  24. I've been using an HD500 for a long time, and it's upgrade time. I play electric violin, and MIDI-controlled Whammy 5 is an integral part of my rig. I have a Molten Voltage Osmosis, which selects presets, sets Whammy pedal position, and also calls up presets on my Source Audio EQ. From what I've been reading, I will probably have to keep at least the Whammy, and probably the Osmosis, as well. Right now, I'm looking to set up the Helix rack in an 8u rack, with drawer-mounted pedals, and probably a rack EQ. I like having access to a hardware EQ at all times. My first question: Can the Helix floor/rack floorboard send more than one MIDI command at a time? Three to five commands would be nice. If I could leave the Osmosis at home, I might be convinced to get the floor processor instead of the rack version. Second question: Can the floorboards be set up with completely customized layouts? For example: Top row: bank up, preset 1, preset 2, preset 3, looper, snapshot 1 Bottom row: bank down, MIDI command 1, MIDI command 2, MIDI command 3, snapshot 2, tap/tuner Third question: Can a 3rd party controller(FCB1010, HD500, etc) be set up to access presets, snapshots, send MIDI PC/CC, tempo? I'm not concerned with changing preset parameters during performance. If the presets and snapshots are all MIDI accessible, then I will be able to do just about everything I want. Fourth question: Are there any internal LFO, like the Fractal processors have? Last question: Is the input impedance seriously topped out at 1 Megohm? I have a good preamp, but I never had to use it with the HD500. Not a huge deal, but I was really surprised at that.
