  1. I have an problem. I played for years with hx stomp live, connecting it with a poweramp, and running it through a cab. Had no problems. But now i bought a Marshall JVM410h and wanted to connect it with hx stomp with 4cbl method. And i get a exesive hiss. Even when i connect it just in front of the amp. But when i put it in analog bypass the hissing stops. How to solve this. Heres a video i recorded.
  2. So it’s just… HX Stomp, but with more touch footswitches and all the jacks on the back? For $150 more? Yes. …Why? Because customers asked for more switches. Or kept finding clever—but way less elegant or integrated—ways to add more switches. And it was relatively easy. We’re not going to pretend it’s the most innovative product we’ve ever designed but for some customers, it’s the goldilocks form factor. Thanks, but my personal needs require a Variax input, twice the DSP, and six switches, not eight. Why didn’t you give me exactly what I want? <exasperated sigh> So it’s like the size of two HX Stomps? If you omit the space required for jacks on the side (even pancake jacks), more like 1-2/3 Stomps. It’s 12.5” wide (vs. HX Stomp’s 7” width). Depth and height are virtually identical. Does it add anything else? Hands-free Pedal Edit mode (tweak presets with your feet), 128 presets vs.126, four snapshots per preset vs. three, and you can access the 6 Switch Looper without needing a MIDI controller. Other than that, it is HX Stomp with 5 extra switches. Does it have the Command Center? Absolutely. In fact, a big reason HX Stomp got the Command Center in 3.0 is because we had already done the work for HX Stomp XL. Wait, what happened to the Volume knob? We moved it to the back panel to save room. It’s spring loaded so you can recess it into the chassis to keep your cables from accidentally turning it. Can I use third-party power supplies? Yes. Any power supply that works with HX Stomp should work fine with HX Stomp XL. Can it load HX Stomp presets? Yep, just drag ‘em in via HX Edit. It can also load Helix, Helix Rack+Control, Helix LT, Helix Native, and HX Effects presets, as long as they contain 8 or fewer blocks on a single DSP path. What are the reset options? Hold these button combinations while powering up the HX Stomp XL: 1. FS ^, C & D: clears all presets/IRs 2. FS ^+C: resets presets and IRs 3. FS C+D: factory restore (globals, presets, IRs) 4. Page >: Update mode. This update mode is helpful if the update is interrupted, and the HX Stomp will not boot properly. You will see a blank screen (no visual feedback on the display). 5. Upper & Lower Knobs: Rebuild presets. Wait for "Will Rebuild Presets..." to appear and let go. Can backup files be exported/imported between HX Stomp and HX Stomp XL? No, the backup file is not compatible across HX Stomp and Stomp XL. If you would like to move your presets, IRs, etc. You would need to manually export the individual files and import them into the other device. You can also connect both devices to HX Edit simultaneously and then drag and drop the files across HX Edit windows. Both versions of HX Stomp or HX Stomp XL should be on the same firmware version for dragging and dropping to function.
  3. Clsc

    Trail function

add the Trail function between one preset and another, or have 5 editable blocks.
  4. Are there any known ways to minimize DSP use in the HX Stomp? For instance: Does turning trails on use more DSP? Does making more parameter changes between snapshots use more DSP? Does using a second signal path use more DSP? Does having more presets in the Stomp use more DSP? Are there any global settings that use more/less DSP?
  5. Does the output(s) of the Powercab+ include the speaker emulation / cab / IR from the Powercab+ ? I am considering using one if it will allow me to not use a cab or IR in the HX Stomp. Having said that, would I be saving any / enough DSP when using an amp only block as opposed to an amp + cab block (or amp block and cab block) in the HX Stomp? Even when using mono blocks, I often run out of DSP after using 4-5 blocks. Ideally, I would like to have a preset such as: dist comp dist phaser amp trem delay reverb. Lastly, if the Powercab+ can send a cab or IR through its output, can it simultaneously send a speaker emulation to the speaker? Also, any general comments or advice regarding the Powercab+ would be appreciated. Thanks
  6. I recently purchased the ToneCore DSP Developer kit and I'd like to locate demo code to try out on the pedal. Short of taking the programming route, does anyone know of any code that I could upload to the pedal. I've already uploaded the 2-band equalizer and it functions normally but now I have a desire to explore additional examples before I take up the DSP programming aspect of the pedal.
  7. The spider V 60 DSP (2017) appears to be a source of failure with an outrageous cost to replace the sub board _ more than the unit is worth - with No support or return !! what sort of Customer product Support is this??? The repair Centre admits it's not economic to repair at all disgusted !! steve
  8. Hello! First time poster here. I'm thinking of upgrading to a POD Go from my trusty old HD500X, but I'm not sure I'll be able to run some of my current patches. My main concern is a D.I/clean fender style patch with 2 pitch bend pedals (one an octave above and one an octave below), plate reverb and digital or mod delay. I use this patch quite a lot for clean/ambient tones! As for everything else I use it's usually nothing more than a standard clean, transparent OD or high gain tones with reverb, delay, noise gate, chorus. All of these are mix and match depending on the gig/song but I'd never really exceed the four blocks I can edit apart from the odd volume or EQ that's included in the non-editable blocks! But I would definitely use the four blocks with pretty much all lead/clean tones. I'll be using it live and as an FX unit for demo recording on my PC. If it's the case that the LT would be a better fit I don't mind too much (I'd originally planned on getting a Boss GT-1000... sacrilege I know). Any help/advice would be appreciated!
  9. I've been pretty st0ked on this amp I purchased for my small practice studio. But occasionally, even with all the great sounds Line 6 Spider V technology has, I am trying to get just a "clean" signal to the driver. I have a set of the standard outboards pedals for sculpting my sound. But none of the 128 presets or any tweaks I have done to them have given me a sound that wasn't "time-smeared" and colored in a negative way. The real tell-tale is when I am using my RC-2 or RC-10r BOSS looper pedals' drum sounds. The snare and especially the cymbals are all resonating in a weird, mushy way that extends the attacks over a couple dozen ms, taking the definition away. It's not just EQ, which I can adjust for "flat" tone. They sound like crap anyway, and it takes some of the enjoyment away from practicing. This is with all the effects off (no chorus/mod, delay, reverb) in the amp, no distortion or overdrive, and using one of the "clean" amp models, with the preamp gain lowered as much as I can and still get output. If I compare it to my other practice amps - a Roland 30x and an old Fender - the clean channel sound is crisp and tight and the BOSS drum sounds (which are EQ'ed to sound fairly flat out of a guitar amp) work very well. Anybody got a clue or a hot tip how to just bypass all the DSP and feed the power stage in the Line 6 Spider V directly? Am I thinking about this in the right way? Thanks for any help, sincerely!! -JD in San Francisco
  10. WHY does the harmonizer sound sooo bad? Hi Guys, so really want to know how you are making the harmonizer sound good. If you insert it 'post amp' like effects like delay ..you get stereo and two harmony and cool stuff like panning ..but damm it sounds awful... The only way I have gotten Harmony working decently is to put it in front of one of two amps (dual setup) and set the mix to 100%. I cant use the dual harmony that way unless i just only use one part harmony. Harmonizing an amp sounds really bad in my opinion and while sure i can find use for it..its not solution. How are you making it sound great?
  11. Hello all. I got a non-working Flextone III 112 donated to me for use with the high school rock band. It's fault is no DSP. It has to be factory reset and then it'll amplify clean. I figured it'd be fine to go straight into the return with pedals but that method didn't work :-( (edit - I've since seen that I need dummy jack in the input!) but it's OKAY if I go into the main input jack as normal with pedals or use as the amp as a monitor. My question is, is there a way to fix this with replacement parts from other Flextone models. They come up spares or repair from time to time on auction sites. Currently (Dec 2019) I might be able to buy a III 212 cheap that's blowing fuses.
  12. I have had the HX FX for a couple of months now, and love the effects and routing capabilities, but I find it REALLY alters the base sound of the instrument when bypassed...I've owned the M9 for nearly a decade and there was a audible difference when switching between True bypass and DSP bypass... the true bypass was great, the DSP very useable...but when I switch from Analog bypass to DSP bypass on the HX FX I hear no difference whatsoever...the both sound very digital and toppy to me...it adds a lot of treble and thins out the sound...I understand buffers and all that jazz (I have owned litterally hundreds of pedals haha!) , but surely analog bypass should not change the sound at all? I am starting to wonder if my unit is faulty?
  13. Hello, as the tilte says, the volume falls down when ''sag'' in the Amp Parameters is turned all the way up. As soon as I start playing the volume lowers itself a little. It's really like a slow compressor. I played with the signal chain around and nothing really helps. May that be the because of the DSP-Limit? I also can't change any of the Amp/Cab settings, because of that mix i'm working on right now. Maybe some general POD settings that could be tweaked?
  14. Hi, I'm a new guy here at Line6 forum I was considering to buy an HX Stomp for my home-studio only for recording purposes (no gigging or rehearsal), but I discovered that it can run up to 6 blocks. Considering that 2 block will be ever occupied by Amp and IR, 4 blocks remain. Overdrive/Distortion, modulation, delay, maybe a rotary effect as a second modulation... This could be my effects chain, but I couldn't add a simple EQ, or a compressor, nor a reverb. This could be frustratring sometimes. So I wondered if the Helix Native plugin could be a better option. What is the maximum number of blocks on Helix Native? I don't need fancy effects like synth, envelope filter or pitch wah. Comp, overdrive/dist/fuzz, modulation, delay, reverb, rotary (sometimes), EQ, amp, cab (IR). This is all I need. Do you think that the Helix Native can run this effects chain into my USB audio interface? Does the plugin have a DSP limit, similarly to physical counterparts (Helix, Helix LT, HX Stomp)? Thanks to all
  15. Hi, the little I understand is that DSP is a processor, but made for high performance. What confuses me is when I see something like Dual-core Processor vs Dual DSP. Dual-core Processor is 1 processor with 2 cores (kinda like 2 processors in 1 chip), so Dual DSP becomes a little generic, since it's not specified how many cores has 1 DSP. Am I right on my conclusions?
  16. Hi. Hoping someone may be able to guide me. I've been using HD500X for a few years (with DT25). Recently I decided to start using JTV over VDI. I had a couple of issues at 2 gigs in a row this weekend. 1: When I powered the unit up for the start of our set at Gig 1 it appeared normal, and then within a few minutes of starting up, twice in quick succession it appeared to go back to the "Line 6" logo start up screen and I momentarily lost signal. This was not the first time I'd gigged with the VDI, but was the 1st time I'd gigged with additional patches where the POD was controlling the tuning. it was strange and made me very nervous for the the duration of the gig, but ultimately the POD performed as normal thereafter. 2: Before the 2nd Gig I plugged the POD into Monkey to see if any updates might be required. Only some drivers needed updating - Flash was all up to date. So I saved my setlist, did the update and then reloaded my setlist onto the POD and headed to the gig. Things started well, but during the 1st set something weird happened: I stepped on preset 1B halfway through the set, only to find that the POD had copied preset 1A onto 1B. I now had 2 identical patches and had lost my original preset 1B which I had been using just fine in the previous song. Fortunately, I had taken my laptop with me to the gig "just in case" of any issues, so after the 1st set I reloaded a set list from a few gigs earlier (where the POD was not controlling the tuning - as this was the only real change I'd made before I started getting issues) and made some changes to the main patches I was using in order to try to reduce the DSP being used, just in case this was causing any of the issues. Never had this happen before and thought it was strange and worried me. Can anyone please help me: 1: Explain what may have caused this? 2: Anyone definitely had this exact thing happen to them before? 3: I'm thinking some sort of Reflash/Factory Reset would be sensible - has this been shown to be the solution to these symptoms? Everything I've seen re: DSP suggests that the system will flag issues when creating the patch rather than let me create and use something that won't work properly. Seems strange that if DSP is the reason, it would let me use it fine for half the gig and then make random unwelcome changes on my behalf... trying to figure out if my unit has developed a fault, or if this set up will simply be unreliable and I may need to either give up on the Dream Rig set up, or think about going to Helix (which although I'd love, does not yet have DT25 integration, and I struggle to justify the outlay given the limited number of sounds I actually need/use, and the POD - in theory - pretty much does all that I need). Any help welcome!! Many thanks in advance!
  17. Attached to this document is a list of all 200+ DSP presets that are available in the StageScape M20d. M20d presets.pdf
  18. I have a Stomp and I really love it because it lets me integrate the best thing from the Helix (which in my opinion is the amp simulation/IR's) with pedals that I love. Now being that I usually run two amps through two IR's, I would really love to be able to put my reverb and delay pedals in separate FX loops without eating up my two remaining blocks on something I'm sure needs very minimal DSP. Anyone else?
  19. What are you using the pre blocks for?... reason i am asking is so far not really finding ever using them....I tried 1) Using as an amp before a cab 2) Using a pre before an amp block (yuk) While they use less dsp I am not finding them useful so I am asking you what and how are you using them if at all.
  20. I’ve attached a labeled photo of my signal path. For some reason those are all the blocks that I can have on path 2. On path one it seems almost unlimited with what I can have. What can I do to rearrange this path so that I can add more blocks to my path 2?
  21. Apologies if this is a search-fail on my part, but is there a list of amp, cab, fx etc. models on HX indicating how much DSP each one uses? I wouldn't necessarily let it shape my patches, but it would be a useful reference to have handy... Many thanks.
  22. Ok, I know that there have been multiple topics on this, but none I have found pertained to my specific situation. I'm certain that I am running out of DSP way too quickly. I'm currently setting up a preset with 1 volume pedal, 1 compressor, 1 wah, 1 cab + amp, and 1 amp and IR. I'm already getting effects grayed out. I can add some modulation and delay effects, but reverb is totally grayed out, among some other things. I have signal path one set to run to signal path 2, so I should have the full DSP power available to me. What am I missing here? Is something wrong? I've encountered this before and after updating to v2.50 and performing a factory reset. Thank You!
  23. 500x + boss ME-80 + Boss OD 20 Bugera vintage V22 infinium. How should I have this set up???? ive been experimenting with a few different methods and would like some feed back and suggestions. 1. guitar>me80>OD20>500x guitar in>front input. 2. same as 1 but bypassing the the preamp of the Bugera. 3. Guitar>500x>500x FX loop SEND> ME80>OD20>500x FX Loop RETURN>Amp FX RETURN. 4. same as 3 BUT! 500x FX LOOP SEND is SPLIT! 500x FXLOOP Send 1>OD20> OD20 Send>500x Return RIGHT> / 500x Send 2>ME80 Input>ME80 output L/Mono>500x FXLoop Return L/Mono>Amp FX Return. (4 sounds the best but i hit my DSP limit :( ) ANY IDEAS????? CHEERS!
  24. I've done a short demo of the stuff I've been playing with on the $50 ST Micro ARM 7 eval board: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OoRuUit7FyM Enjoy! ChewingAluminum(Foil)
  25. Hello everyone, I have 2 x POD HD500s, my original road-worn thing with broken pots and jacks etc and a near-new one I have just bought. I would like to somehow link them together so that the new one will control both PODs with the output of both being available at the 1/4" outs of one only. Any tips from anyone...? Many Thanks, Anthony (Australia)
