Hi All, I had a rummage through the forum and couldn't find anything similar :-/ The problem: Pedal C and Modulation pedal both don't work: no light when pressed; no change to function; i,e, Rest of the unit can't see those 2 pedals being pressed. Everything else works fine. What happened? The power supply socket on the motherboard came a bit loose, and power was cutting in and out. - I opened the POD. Got the motherboard out. HAD TO DISCONNECT THE RIBBON CABLE from the motherboard (the one that goes to the two pedal banks. Also disconnected the ribbon cable at the Volume/wah pedal end. - Unsoldered the power socket from the motherboard - it did have a broken leg. Soldered in a new one - power was all good after that. But..... Having put the motherboard back into the top half of the POD body, and reconnected the ribbon cables, although the power is fine, and all the functions work, Two pedals don't work: Pedal C and the Modulation Pedal. i.e. the LED doesn't come on, and the functions don't change. ALL the other pedals and functions are fine. I used a circuit tested to confirm that the buttons behind the two offending pedals are both fine - they behave exactly like all the other buttons when they're attached to the circuit tested and pushed. So, I suspect there's a problem either in the ribbon cable, or somewhere beyond that. ...and that's where I'm stuck. Help!! Is it time to sell this XT Live for spares? Is there an easy fix? Something else??? Thanks in advance :-)

So, I have a Spider 3 120 and I tried using a distortion pedal with it, the input was this: Guitar - pedal input, pedal output to amp input I tweaked settings of both the pedal and the amp, cables weren't broken and neither was the pedal or its battery/power supply as I used all of them after with a different amp and they worked flawlessly. Any advice to get pedals (not wah/modulation etc) to work with the spider 3 120?

I’ve had both an hx stomp, and now a stomp xl, and my expression pedal is not working for swells. I plugged it into the expression 1/2 on the stomp, and then added a volume block to my patch. I tried putting my volume block at the beginning of my signal chain, after my amp, and at the very end. I also tried messing with the global settings. My issue is that it works for turning up and down my volume, but even though it’s before my reverb and delays, it shuts off the echoes and delays when I roll it back. I want the echoes and delay to continue decaying after I turn down my volume. Instead, it starts turning off my reverb and delay instantly as soon as I begin to roll back on my volume pedal. And this keeps happening regardless of where I put the volume block in my signal chain. I also turned up my decay time on my reverb block as far as it will go, and my volume block is still shutting off the decay. What do I need to do to get the volume block to work for swells?

Hello all, I tried to find an answer but I am without luck; so I turn to the forum. Setup I am running my HX Stomp 4cm with my Friedamn Smallbox amp, which I set up according to the Line6 tutorial. I have a few pedals into the Input Mono/L. I am monitoring the sound by way of the amp's speaker cab. Everything works and sounds great when not bypassing my Friedman's preamp. Problem blending pedals with Helix preamps The trouble, however, arises when I want to use my analog pedals with an HX Stomp preamp. To explain what I doing when I use a preamp: I turn off the FX Loop block to bypass my amp's preamp and activate the Helix preamp block that follows it in the chain. This sounds really good and I believe am I doing things correctly. Nonetheless, my pedals don't seem to be blending well in this context. They seem almost a bit too strong, which results in a muddy sound. Is there a solution that someone might share? Mapping Global EQ cutting at 79 Hz and 10,000 Hz Global input, output and sends are instrument level. Guitar > One Control buffer > Diamond comp > MXR Phaser > Seymour Duncan 805 Tube Screamer > Archer Ikon > TC polytune Tuner > Input Mono L to Amp FX return. Output > Amp FX return Helix FX send > amp input. Helix FX return > Amp FX send TL;DR My patch: HX Stomp FX Loop L (turned off) > HX Stomp Mesa Lonestar modeled clean preamp > HX Stomp Simple Delay > HX Stomp 63 Spring = sounds good Any pedal(s) + my patch = sounds muddy.

Hi everyone. I have a question, I want to use my Helix for guitar and vocals simultaneously. The thing is, it will be with two musicians, a guitarist who will be up and down, and me on vocals. The issue is that I would like to control various parameters of the vocals (delay, occasional echo, etc.), and not have to be aware of the pedalboard, which the guitarist will be using. I've thought about adding an external pedal, like a switch on/off, to assign those effects, and with my own two or three buttons, without having to be aware of the pedalboard. Do you know if this can be done? And if so, what pedal do you recommend? I need at least two buttons. Thank you.

I would like to know: if I buy an LINE 6 FBV2 pedal switch, would it be possible to work in a Spider v60 MKII? is that possible?

I've had my Helix floor for a couple of years now and it's amazing. For background, I was a guitarist for a church for years and I completely sold off my traditional head/cab/rack rig once I got it. Can't beat not having to pull around 200lbs of gear and still getting the same tone. That said, I've moved states, I'm thinking about joining up with an touring group, and I honestly just want more gear. Problem is, I can't think of anything that the Helix doesn't already do well. What pedals have you added to your pedal board on top of your Helix that was worth while? I go back and forth between adding a looper (because I don't like that I have to go down 2 menu levels to get to it live), or maybe a backup rig on the same board (amp in the box pedal, cab sim, some drives and effects), that I could also integrate into my Helix patches.

Hi all! About a year ago, I was using an MXR 10-band EQ in the FX loop of my amplifier and it sounded amazingly good. I noticed it was giving me some bad hiss though, so I switched it out for a Source Audio EQ2 about 6 months ago, which also sounded good. I wanted to add delay, reverb, and an amp modeler into the amp's FX loop along with the EQ, so I ultimately decided to sell the EQ2 and put an HX Stomp in the amp's FX loop to do all of this. Currently, this is how my HX Stomp functions and here is my signal chain: Guitar > front of amp effects > preamp > FX loop send > HX Stomp 10 band EQ > HX Stomp digital delay > FX loop return > power amp The problem is that upon switching out the EQ2 for the HX Stomp, when I set the Stomp's 10-band EQ parameters to what the previous EQ's were set at, I realized there was an extremely noticeable jump in some of the frequencies. The signal immediately sounded very nasally. Through messing with the frequencies, I realized there was a boost in frequency right around 1K Hz. To give an idea of how different the frequency hike is, 1K Hz on the old EQ was set at +2 dB (I run a little hotter for more gain in the FX loop). On the HX Stomp, I have to run this same frequency at -2.0 dB to achieve a comparable sound. However, running this frequency this low on the Stomp's EQ is causing some fidelity issues; coming out of speaker, anything around 1K Hz sounds like it coming out of an AM radio. You can imagine this is frustrating. Has anyone had this issue and/or does anyone have any thoughts, suggestions, or advice on how to fix this? Thanks in advance.

Hey guys, I'm still getting used to the transition to using a multi effects unit after being used to pedals for a long time. I know generally to dial in a sound on an unfamiliar pedal you 'start at 12 O'clock and go from there.' My question is when you load an effect, are the control parameters considered "12 O'clock" when the bar graphic is half full, or when the knob is in it's default state. Thank you!!

Hello, When using the 4CM with the HX effects, where in the chain would you put externals pedals such as overdrives, fuzz, phaser, or modulation? Between guitar in? HX effects send to amp in? I want to mix the 4CM with my other pedals and what typically has worked well for others would be helpful. I would like to save my second effects loop if I can. Thanks!

Hi! I was thinking of buying a looper (switching between multiple pedals to avoid tapdancing) but came across the HX effects. This is my setup: Orange TH30 Polytuner Digitech Whammy Fuzz pedal Distortion pedal Octaver pedal Hall of fame reverb pedal (might get rid of this one if the HX reverbs are good) What I'm after is being able to control each pedal individually and create snapshots for turning on/off multiple pedals at once. I also want to be able to control the channel of the amp on the snapshots. Is this doable? what is the maximum amount of pedals I can plug into the unit? I'm really new to this whole thing so my knowledge is pretty basic, but I know you can do the 4 Cable method to be able to have HX reverb/delays after the amp distortion. Kind regards, Jeff

Hi everyone, I am new in this forum. My name is Jean-Michel, I compose as one-man death-metal band Mindkiller. I have since a few weeks a Vetta II HD, and I my guitar is a LTD MH400NT with EMG 81-85. I use the preset "Chaotic Bottom", so a mix between Mesa and 5150 and I record through garage band. I am not very satisfied with the sound when I record, as I would add more "chunck" and attack in my sound. I was thinking about mixing the preset with an extern pedal but I am not sure how to do it. At the back of the head, I find two entry for external loop. Do I need 2 stereo cables, then classically add my external pedal ( in this case a old Metal Zone, as I saw a video of Ola Englund from the Haunted showing a very impressive sound with this pedal combined with a Randall amplifier ), then press "loop" at the front of the head ? Thank you for your advices! For people interested to hear a few riffs, check the video at the front page of my project : https://mindkiller-band.jimdo.com Best regards, Jean-Michel

Don't know why but ever since updating to 2.80 and playing around with the king of tone and other effects I've been thinking about what pedals would be great additions to the helix. At the moment, my number one pedal would be the Buggfx Daydream delay. Such an insane little pedal. Or maybe an emulation of the eventide h3000 with the band delays effect. Anyway, just curious what you guys want to see possibly come in future updates. Cheers.

The entire bottom row of my HD500 is non-functioning rendering four of my effects and looping completely unusable. Does anyone have access to a wiring schematic for the board? Thanks!

I picked up an FVB2 controller to use on my Line 6 Spider IV ; however, it did not come with a cord. It looks like it could take a standard ethernet cable? Is that correct. If not where can I find a cord for this? Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know if i can toggle individually on and off from HX effects all the pedals that i have connected to its loop?or they are just assigned altogether in the signal flow as loop 1 or 2?

Hello, I use Line 6 UX2 with Podfarm as software to play my guitar. So this is how I usually connect: Guitar -> UX2 -> Computer (Podfarm) | Headphones Now I bought a Loop pedal and I do this: Guitar -> Loop Pedal -> UX2 -> Computer (Podfarm) | Headphones And it works perfectly fine! No delay or whatsoever. My question is whenever I play something, let's say Am C D F as a loop with CLEAN sound and then on my Layer 2 want to play solo over this, and click "Pedal ON" on my Podfarm the Layer 1 also changes. So how do I solve this problem? I want to be able to: Layer 1. Clean acoustic sound, looping! Layer 2. Distortion Solo. Layer 3. Another sound etc. So how do I do this with the UX2? Please help.

Hi all, I hope to find an answer to a question I have for a long time now. So, I am not willing to give up on my stomp-boxes and yet, at times I am forced to practice at night and yes this means a tube amp is too loud and I need headphones. Someone told me i could get a fair quality by using an external device such as the TonePort UX1 ore focusrite scralett solo and the bigger versions. Please did anyone try the following signal path: Guitar -> Pedals (overdrive, distortion, modulation , delay etc ... from various producers) -> LINE 6 TONEPORT UX1 (without pc software editing tops cab simulation) -> headphones out? IS THIS POSSIBLE? WHAT IS THE SOUND QUALITY? CAN I RECORD LIKE THAT? So...thanks in advance. Dan

Hey there! I use to play with a drummer, just me and him, and with the Helix I do two guitars and the bass. But I have an issue... I don't know how I can play a chord with the guitar and make that the bass line just make the lower note, not the entire chord. I tried with a fliter, eq... and the result isn't great. Isn't there a monophonic octave? Does anybody know how I can get it? Thank you very much for you time!

I notice the rack has 3 of these plus an input for a pedal switch as well. Then you add on the control it has another 3 inputs. Is this then giving me the ability to use these as controllers. Also I have some old Roland dual switch controllers are these inputs able to be used to act with switches like an fs6 or fs7?

Anyone will to test this with your Helix? I've got an SM7 connected to the Helix via the mic input. I have nothing in the signal chain -- no blocks. Healthy signal running to Logic. All sounds good. I pulled out my old RNC compressor and put it into one of the FX loops. I notice that when I make the FX Loop block active (even with the outboard unit on bypass) that I can hear a slight chorus effect and a loss of low end. Sounds like a bit of the original dry signal is getting mixed back in and there's a phase issue. I still hear this when I engage the compressor. When I bypass the FX Loop block the signal is nice and full again. I decided to test this with another "true bypass" outboard unit with different cables on a different FX Loop. I'm getting the same weird phasing issue. I don't use the FX Loops when I'm playing guitar through the Helix so this is the first time I've come across this. I don't have a problem running effects in Logic, but it would suck if the Helix's FX Loops aren't transparent. Anyone else notice this? Thanks.

M13 with External Effects without using 4 Cable Method
jjguitarplaya posted a topic in M5 / M9 / M13
I have a Line6 M13 and I would like to hook up my external effects to get the best possible tone out of my gear. I don't know a lot about effect loops etc so anyone who could possibly advise me, it would be greatly appreciated. Please see my gear list below: Line6 M13 Vox AC15C1 Amp (No Effect Loop) Ibanez TS808 Boss BD-2 Vox Wah - V847 Is it possible to hook up my external effects into the effects loop in the pedal without using the 4 cable method since my amp does not have that? I love the tones I'm currently getting out of my M13 and the Vox amp but I would like to use my external pedals as I like those drives better than the tones internally. Anything you can do to help would be greatly appreciated.
