Line 6 generally tests with software Digital Audio Workstations (DAW) that are the latest and the last freely upgradeable versions. Line 6 does not test on 3rd party applications that are no longer supported by their own developers. While we use a wide variety of 3rd party recording applications during our software testing, it is simply not possible to test POD Farm's (or any other Line 6 software) compatibility with every DAW. We make every effort to be compatible with as many recording applications as is practical. Research performed by our Quality Assurance department, beta testers, and ultimately POD Farm users systematically help us to identify bugs and incompatibilities, and we continually strive to resolve these issues with incremental software releases and/or documentation in the form of release notes, online Knowledge Base items, and forum posts. POD Farm plug-ins are developed to conform to the standards established for RTAS, VST and AU and should be compatible with any DAW supporting these plug-in formats. It is important to note that the way that DAW manufacturers implement these standards varies, which, when combined with a given computer's unique configuration, may result in varying plug-in performance.

Currently, Line 6 does not test any of our products on Tablet or Netbook style PC's. While it may be possible to get the hardware and software to work together or separately, we cannot guarantee that your Line 6 USB device can be used as intended on these systems as they tend to have ultra-low-voltage processors that may not have the processing power that large processors have. Therefore, at this point, there is no support for Tablet or Netbook PC's.

USB Compatibility with Line 6 Devices
Line6Tony posted a article in Computer Audio Set Up and Troubleshooting
Français Deutsch Q: Which type of USB is my Line 6 device compatible with? A: Most Line 6 USB products are compatible with USB 1.x and 2.0. The UX8 and POD X3 USB Devices are USB 2.0 exclusive devices. Connecting these to USB 1.x ports will result in failed connectivity. The following Line 6 units are compatible with all 3 types of USB Ports: Guitarport Toneport Series (GX, UX1, UX2, KB37) Toneport DI (Gold/Silver) POD Studio series (GX, UX1, UX2, KB37) POD XT/XT Live/XT Pro Pocket POD Backtrack The following Line 6 units are ONLY compatible with USB 2.0: POD X3/X3 Live/X3 Pro Toneport UX8 Q: How are 2.0 USB ports different from 1.1 ports? A: As we all may know, USB ports are on your computer so you are able to connect external devices to work with your system. Most computers today come with one or more USB ports and they're so fast and easy to use. It's easy just to plug something into a port and go. Most newer computers come with USB 2.0 ports, but some of the older ones still have 1.0 or 1.1 (which are very similar to each other). To find out which version you have, follow these directions: Select the start menu, then go to "My Computer" right click on the "my computer" icon, then select "manage". Click on the "Device Manager" under "Computer Management". Scroll down on the right side of the box until you locate the Universal Serial Bus (USB) controllers, then expand the list by clicking the addition (+) symbol. If you have a USB 2.0 controller in your computer, the word "enhanced" will be listed somewhere in one of those names. Q: Can I use a USB Hub to connect my Line 6 unit to my computer? A: No, USB hubs are not supported in any application of Line 6 hardware. Q: I am receiving an "Error 10" code when attempting to connect my POD X3 or UX8 to my computer? A: An "Error 10" occurs when a USB 2.0 device (i.e.POD X3 and UX8 series) is connected to a USB 1.x port. Please connect these units to a USB 2.0 port. Q: I cannot find a driver to download for the Pocket POD, FBV Mk II controller or Backtrack? A: The Pocket POD, FBV Mk II controllers and Backtrack use "class compliant" drivers that are "pre-installed" in your OS.? If you are having trouble connecting to these devices you should try a different USB port and update your OS to ensure you have the latest class compliant drivers on your system. If you have tried all available USB ports on your computer and have either no device recognition or poor audio quality (clicks-pops), you will want to consider purchasing a PCI USB 2.0 card to connect your Line 6 USB audio interface. Q: I am receiving an error that says my hardware is not a valid Line 6 device (error 8000710B) / the ESN on my unit is showing "00000000" when I connect to Line 6 Monkey? A: This situation may happen when a unit is incorrectly repaired at a Line 6 service center. The unit needs to be returned to the service center that originally serviced the unit for repair.

Q: What are the specs for the Line 6 EX-1 Expression Pedal? A: The Line6 expression pedal is a passive 10K ohm mono linear taper pot, using a standard 1/4 inch mono instrument cable. Q: Do I need to reprogram my changes with the EX-1 every time I plug the pedal in? A: You do not need to restart your effect unit everytime you want to reset the expression pedal. Your expression pedal settings will remain the way you set them up regardless of effect knob settings. Your expression pedal settings can be saved to the effects parameters saved by the footswitches. Q: What are the weight and dimensions of the EX-1 Expression Pedal? A: Line 6 Weights & Dimensions Q: Can I use the Line 6 EX-1 Expression Pedal to control the volume, wah, or tweak function on my Line 6 product? A: Yes. Simply plug the EX-1 Expression Pedal into either the "PEDAL 1" jack or the "EXPRESSION PEDAL" jack on the back of the device. Q: How do I use the EX-1 with a POD unit when connected to the unit or an FBV shortboard? A: Press the "Edit" button then turn the "select" knob until you see the "wah | volume" page. On the volume side, select or highlight "Assign" with the third soft button located under the main display. Turn the "Effect Tweak" knob to change from volume to Tweak. In the updated PODxt, these parameters are changed on the page after the "wah/volume" page. By changing from volume to tweak you have engaged to EX-1 to control any function that comes under "tweak". To find out what's under the tweak selection, turn the "Select" knob to the next page where you will see "FX Tweak | tempo". on the FX tweak side you may scroll through the stomp tweaks, delay tweaks, mod tweaks etc. Make sure if you select say the delay time, the delay button light must be on and so with the other effects. Q: How do I use an EX-1 Expression Pedal with a Stomp Box Modeling Pedal? A: See the following document for information on how to use the EX-1 with your Four button modeling pedal: Expression Pedal & Stompbox Modeler Pedal FAQ Q: My expression pedal just stopped working. What happened? A: If too much weight is put on the pedal when it is in the heel down position, the foot rest (top half of the pedal) can become disconnected from the control pot in the base (bottom half of the pedal). To fix this, simply unscrew the bottom plate of the pedal and push the foot rest into the heel down position, then (with your finger) push the metal plate that is connected to the control pot down until the brass pin in the foot rest clicks into the center slot of the metal plate. You may need to pull the toe end of the foot rest away from the base to do this. Be careful, as too much force could crack the foot rest. Put it back together and it should work fine.

Q: I am making a replacement cable for my Line 6 wireless unit - How should I wire the cable? A: Here is the wiring from the 1/8" TRS jack to the 1/4" mono plug: Tip and Sleeve from the 1/8" jack go to the 1/4" Sleeve (ground), the Ring on the 1/8" TRS jack goes to the Tip (Hot) of the 1/4" jack. Q: Is there any way to make an external antenna for the XDS95 or is it even necessary? A: The antennae are built into the chassis of the XDS95 and perform quite well. Therefore there is no need for external antennae. Q: The belt clip seems to easily fall off my strap with the slightest jumping around. How can I avoid this? A: Thin straps are typically the culprit. Weaving your guitar strap through the clip will help to ensure a secure fit. Q: I would like to buy multiple transmitters. Where can I find them? A: Please see a list of our dealers on our authorized dealers page. Any of our dealers can order additional available accessories if they are out of stock. Q: Do you offer replacement and or extra cables? Do you also offer an angled plugged cable? A: See the following link for the replacement cable on the Line 6 webstore: Line 6 Store: X2 Replacement Cable X2 Digital Wireless Systems & componants System Comparison Chart XDS95: XDR1 + XDT1 XDS-PLUS: XDR2 + XDT4 XDR95x: XDR4 + XDT4 XDR952: Omni Lav Mic XDR953: Headset Mic XDR954: Cardiod Lav Mic XDR955: Handheld Mic XDR957: Horn Mic XDR vs XDS Mode -In XDR the Q-diversity Plus feature is active to minmize signal dropouts as well as to provide a better frequency response: 10 Hz - 20 kHz +/- .5 dB -In XDS mode the frequency response is 10hz - 12khz

Firmware v2.09 Release Notes: * Eliminated slight delay when entering Record mode. * Fixed problem with extended-ascii characters in file names. * Fixed Undo issue for recordings loaded directly from SD-Card, where the last two overdubs would be erased instead of only the most recent one. JM4 Advanced Guide: For in-depth info on features and functionality of the JM4 Looper not included in the Pilot's Handbook, check out: JM4 Advanced Manual WARNING: BACK UP YOUR FILES! The v2.09 update will erase all the internal recordings you have made. If you want to save them, use an SD card to create backups (via the TRANSFER ALL TO CARD command) then copy them from your SD card onto your PC for safe keeping (using an SD card reader). You can then reload your files using an SD card at any time after you have completed the update. The v2.09 update will erase all the custom guitar presets you have made. Here are the instructions on Saving and Loading the presets to and from the JM4: STORING PRESETS Created a User Tone and Saved it to a user location. In the SETTINGS/TONE menu, please make sure RECORDINGS SET TONE is set to ON. Made a recording with that guitar tone and save the recording to the internal memory. Do this for every preset you would like to store. In the SAVE menu, select the TRANSFER ALL TO CARD option. All of your recordings and their associated tone will be saved to the SD card. [*] LOADING PRESETS To transfer them back into the amp, go to the SAVE menu and choose the TRANSFER ALL FROM CARD option. This will load the recordings and the associated presets back onto the JM4. Now, when you load a recording that was transferred onto the JM4 from the SD Card, the preset that was stored with the recording will be loaded with the recording. For those getting started with a POD Studio GX/UX1/UX2 device and following through the Ableton Live Lite 7 tutorial, there has been some inquiries of confusion regarding page 5/12 in the starting tutorial. There is reference to the Line 6 Audio-MIDI Controller Mapping preferences menu page; if you continue reading down the tutorial, you'll see that this particular section refers to setting up a Line 6 KB37 (UX2 + MIDI keyboard controller) for Ableton MIDI CC mapping assignment. The POD Studio GX/UX1/UX2 is not a MIDI controller device whatsoever; the only two parameters that appear in the Audio-MIDI menu are for Footswitch 1 & 2 assignments only. The inclusion of this content is specific to KB37 owners wishing to try out Live Lite 7. We apologize for any confusion in the documentation to POD Studio GX/UX1/UX2 new users.

Q: How do I reset the Bass POD to its factory settings? A: Press and hold the up and down arrow buttons as you power the unit on for 5-7 seconds or until it goes to the preset 1-A. Q: How do I check the version of software on my Bass POD? A: To check your software version on the Bass Pod series, hold the "Manual" button down while powering the unit on. The display will spell "Bass Pod" or "Bass Pod Pro" depending on your gear, then give a version number (ie. 1.5 for Bass Pod). Q: What is the difference between Bass POD and Bass POD Pro? A: The Bass POD Pro will have digital outs and digital clock in,along with XLR balanced outputs, a dry signal out and a line input. It also has 24bit A/D and D/A converters as opposed to the 20bit converters of the Bass POD Q: How do I connect my Bass POD to my computer for editing? A: In order to establish communication between your Bass POD's MIDI In and Out and your computer, you will need a MIDI Interface, two standard MIDI cables and the cables necessary to connect the interface to your computer. Q: What editing software do I use to edit patches on my Bass POD? A: You'll need to download a copy of SoundDiver which is currently not supported by Line 6 but can be found in the Archived section of our Software Downloads Page. Q: How do I record my Bass POD into my computer? A: In order to record the audio signal of your Bass POD directly into your computer, you will first need the proper type of software that is capable of recording audio loaded into your computer. You will also need a sound card that has an audio input. If you have a Soundblaster type of card, you will need a cable that has two 1/4 inch mono plugs on one end and one 1/8 inch stereo plug. This cable can be found at most major music retailers. The two 1/4 inch mono jacks on this cable will need to be inserted into the Bass POD's Modeled and DI Outputs and the other end of the cable should be inserted into the audio input of your computer's sound card. Make sure your sound card and audio software are configured to receive audio input and you should be ready to record. If you are using another type of soundcard, like a unit that has an external break out box, you can plug directly into that box using a regular guitar cable of a balanced (TRS) cable. Be sure to check the documentation that came with the unit to configure it correctly. Q: How should I connect my Bass POD to my amplifier? A: The Bass Pod is not a power amp. You will need to go from the Bass Pod into a power amp and then into a cabinet, or insert the Bass Pod in the effects loop of your amp. The Bass Pod's outputs are line level outputs. If you want to go into the front you should consider purchasing a direct box (ebtech makes a fairly inexpensive one) that will drop your level down to an instrument level. This way the impedance levels will not be mismatched between your Bass Pod and Head. Another thing you might want to check would be the overall output level of your Bass Pod. It should be set between 12 and 2 o'clock. Q: Can I Time Align and blend the DI signal with the Amp Model? A:Yes. To blend the DI signal into the Amp Model output, press the MANUAL+CABS/EQ buttons simultaneously so that the CABS/EQ button is flashing slowly. Adjust Compress knob from min (all model@Amp Model output) to max (all DI@ Amp Model output). Press CABS/EQ to exit. This is storable in a preset. The Model and DI outputs are preset to be time aligned at 100Hz, but you can adjust this. To Time Align the Amp Model and DI outputs, press the MANUAL+CABS/EQ buttons simultaneously so that the CABS/EQ button is flashing slowly. Adjust Channel Volume from min (0ms delay) to max (8ms delay). Press CABS/EQ to exit. This is storable in a preset. When you're in this mode, all of the other knobs (amp tone controls, tweak) still function so it's easy to dial in a time aligned, blended DI signal with your main tone. Q: How do I change the Cab and Mic models on the Bass POD? A: CAB/A.I.R. - Press the CAB/A.I.R. button once to pick a Cab Model to pair with your amplifier, select the microphone used on the cabinet and even set the amount of "room" that the mic captures. Unlike the EFFECT ON/OFF buttons, this button is not an on/off type control. A single press of this button simply lets you change cabs and mics quickly. When the Cabinets are off, this button's light will be off as well. Q: Is the Bass POD a mono device? A: The short answer to this is yes, the Bass POD is mono in the sense that there is no left and right output of the effects. Instead, the Bass POD has an amp model out and a "direct" out because most bass players will usually record their bass going directly into the mixing console as well as going through their amp (which is mic'ed and then sent to the mixing console.) Some players do this in live situations when the PA can accommodate it. Because of this, we found having seperate "Amp" and "D.I." outputs would be more useful than stereo. Q: The Bass POD web page says there is a Cabinet Tuning Mode for matching the output of the Bass POD to different cabinet types when using the Bass POD as the front end of an amplifier. Is this true? A: Yes, this feature is not documented in the manual. You will need to power the Bass Pod up holding down the save button. Then you can choose between A,B,C, or D. The Bass Pod will default to a. Mode "A" assumes that POD is feeding a flat power amp and that your speakers are a closed back 4x12 cabinet. Mode "B" assumes that POD is feeding a flat power amp and that your speakers are an open back combo amp (1x12 or 2x12). Mode "C" is the default mode that assumes POD is in front of the Combo/head and your speakers are an open back combo amp. Mode "D" assumes that POD is feeding into the front of a Head and your speakers are a 4x12 closed back cabinet. Q: Is it possible to upgrade my POD 1 to a Bass POD? A: Unfortunately, there is no upgrade path between the Pod and Bass Pod.

Important Warranty Information! Please be aware that your Line 6 product’s warranty is only valid in the region where you purchased your unit. For instance, if you live in Brazil, but buy your unit from a U.S.-based retailer, then you must have warranty repairs performed in the U.S., meaning you must ship it there. Otherwise, you’d have to pay to have it repaired closer to home. Prices for parts and repairs are set by the independent service center, and they reserve the right to choose what they repair. If you live outside the U.S., you should be interacting with the distributor for the country/territory that you live in. The distributor for your country/territory sets the warranty period and its rules according to local law. It is for this reason that Line 6 recommends that you always buy your unit locally. Distributors can be found at http://line6.com/find/distributor/. You will need to present your original, dated proof of purchase to have any warranty work performed at any Line 6 Authorized Service Center for repair. FAQs Q: Where can I read your warranty? A. Standard Warranty downloads: English Japanese German Chinese French Spanish Q. What is the general Line 6 Warranty statement for the U.S.? A. Vacuum tubes, as well as accessories included in product boxes, including, but not limited to, USB data cables, allen wrenches and foot rubbers are warrantied for a period of ninety (90) days from the original date of purchase or unless local statutory law requires otherwise. A: Line 6 warranties transfer from one end user to another within the original warranty period (as long as the user has the original dated proof of purchase), but not when purchased second hand from a retail outlet. Q: Do I get a warranty if I bought a unit from eBay? A: If you purchase a Line 6 product sold as New from an authorized Line 6 retailer with an online storefront, the standard factory warranty applies as if it were purchased in a physical store. Please contact us if you want to verify if an online retailer is authorized to sell our products. If you purchase a Used/Demo/Blemished unit from an individual or a retailer either in a store or online, you do so at your own risk with no warranty offered by Line 6, unless the seller includes a copy of the original receipt to transfer any still-effective warranty to you. Refurbished products purchased from the web store at www.Line6.com, or at the official Line 6 Direct stores on Amazon, eBay and reverb.com carry a 90-day warranty. Q: Do I get a warranty if I bought a unit used? A: The only way to redeem warranty on a used item is to present a copy of the original purchase receipt, dated within the product warranty period. If you fail to get such a receipt, the manufacturers warranty will not be honored. At times, authorized retailers can provide such copies to the original purchaser. Q: What do I do if I need a repair? A: Please refer to our Product Repair FAQ for detailed instructions. Q: Does Line 6 offer extended warranties? A: Yes, extended warranties for certain products are sold on our web shop. Please see this article for details.

1. Input settings on User Bank 13 (A, B, C, D) are set incorrectly. Tone 1 is set to GTR 1 + Variax and Tone 2 is set to Mic 1. Because the XLR and 1/4" inputs on the X3 Pro on the same channel cannot be used at the same time, this will not work. The work around here is to re-save each patch in Bank 13 with the input setting on Tone 2 set to Mic 2. 2. Audio from the Tuner does not mute when connected digitally to audio interface. When using the tuner on the POD X3 Pro, the audio from the tuner does not mute on the S/PDIF and AES/EBU digital outputs even with Mute selected in the Tuner menu screen. 3. Tuner does not work with Guitar 2 Input. The tuner will only tune instruments that are plugged into the Guitar 1 and Variax inputs on the POD X3 Pro.

Before we get into defining "Platinum", it's important to know that POD Farm comes in two distinct flavors: 1. As a plug in tied to a Line 6 device OR 2. As a plug in tied to an iLok key The difference between POD Farm and POD Farm Platinum, regardless of which type of device the license is tied to, is simply the number of amp, cab, and FX models available in the plug-in. POD Farm includes a limited number of models PLUS any models your Line 6 device contains from buying model packs, while POD Farm Platinum includes ALL Line6 models ever made to date. You may be asking "What does this mean"? Let's look at some examples: If you have a POD XTL and you own all of the Line 6 model packs (Power Pack, Metal Shop, FX Junkie, Collector Classics, and the Bass Expansion Pack), then you will have an equivalent model set to what's included in POD Farm Platinum. If you have a POD XTL loaded with only the Collectors Classic pack and you upgrade to POD Farm plug in, you will not have an equivalent model set to POD Farm Platinum, but the models from the Collector Classic Pack will be available in POD Farm. If you have an POD X3 and you installed your free POD Farm plug in then you will have an equivalent model set to what's included in POD Farm Platinum. Why? Because the X3 devices come loaded with all of our models out of the box. The same goes for anyone who owns a TonePort DI Gold version. Now, it's important to remember that the iLok version of POD Farm will come in two versions: 1. POD Farm for iLok (a limited amount of models included) OR 2. POD Farm Platinum for iLok (all models included) Some questions about POD Farm plug-in for iLok: Q: Can I transfer my POD Farm key out of my Line 6 device into an iLok? A: Currently there is no way to transfer a POD Farm license from a Line 6 device to an iLok key. Q: Can I upgrade my standard version of POD Farm for iLok to the Platinum version? A: See the following link for the upgrade path: http://line6.com/store/podfarm/ilok Q: Do I get a 30-day refund option for the iLok version of the software (as seen with the Line 6 licenses)? A: No, as iLok is a separate company there is no way to get a refund once the license has been purchased. We reccomend using the trial version of the POD Farm prior to purchasing to ensure you are interested in POD Farm.

Q: What is POD Farm? A: POD Farm is Line 6's new plug-in software platform that will offer POD tone to any DAW. For use with either a Line 6 hardware interface or iLok dongle, POD Farm can easily be used with all the major software recording platforms (such as, Pro Tools, Ableton, Cubase, Nuendo, Garageband and more) and is available in Mac® AU/RTAS®/VST® and Windows® RTAS®/VS® formats. POD Farm iLok users will not be able to run the standalone version of POD Farm software; the iLok allows for VST/AU/RTAS plug-in effect instantiation functionality only. Standalone POD Farm only functions with our TonePort/POD Studio USB devices. Q: Can POD Farm be used with my earlier generation TonePort (GX, UX-1, UX-2, UX-8, Guitarport)? A: Yes. POD Farm will work with all TonePort devices as a plug in (provided that you purchased the optional POD Farm Plug-In License Key and installed into the device using Line 6 Monkey) and can also be used in Stand Alone mode. Note: TonePort GX, UX-1, UX-2 and KB37's did NOT come with a Plug-In license present from the factory. Users who bought these devices will need to purchase a POD Farm Plug-In license to get this functionality! Q: Can POD Farm be used with my POD XT or POD X3 device? A: POD Farm is compatible with our POD XT and X3 devices as a plug in only. It cannot be used as a standalone editor for your POD. Gearbox will remain the primary editor for all POD XT and X3 devices. Q: Can I transfer the free POD Farm plug in I got for being an X3 owner out of my X3? A: No. That upgrade is a factory bit that remains bound to your X3 device. Q: Can I transfer the POD Farm upgrade from the GearBox Plug-In Gold/Silver DI to another device? A: No. That upgrade is a factory bit that remains bound to your Gold/Silver DI device. Q: Can I use the Bass POD XT (or XT Live) as a dongle for POD Farm? A: No, as the Bass POD XT series cannot accept assets or model packs. Q: Is GuitarPort Online compatible with POD Farm? A: Currently, our GuitarPort Online subscription service is not available through the POD Farm software. GPO subscribers must continue to use Gearbox for this service. Q: Can I have Gearbox and POD Farm installed simultaneously on my computer? A: Yes. You can continue to use Gearbox as a plug in or stand alone application if you wish while having POD Farm installed on your system as well. Q: What about my current recording projects that have the Gearbox plug in instantiated on them? Will they still work? A: Absolutely. You can continue to use Gearbox as a plug in if you'd prefer. Your projects will not be harmed. Q: Will my Gearbox tones work with POD Farm? A: Yes. POD Farm will load all of your Gearbox presets just fine. You can continue to use them. Q: How do I save the POD Farm presets when used as a plugin? A: Select the folder next to the preset name, then select "save as" in the drop-down menu and rename the altered tone to whatever you like. Q: Can I use POD Farm on more than one computer? A: Yes. You must run Line 6 Monkey on each computer first in order to authorize that functionality.

Firmware v2.09 Release Notes: Eliminated slight delay when entering Record mode. Fixed problem with extended-ascii characters in file names. Fixed Undo issue for recordings loaded directly from SD-Card, where the last two overdubs would be erased instead of only the most recent one. v2.09 Firmware Update Instructions: After you download the v2.09 update to your computer, please click here for step by step instructions on how to install the update. (Instructions are for v2.07, but they are essentially the same for v2.09. Note: If you are updating from v2.07, you can skip Step 4 -- no need to power up your Spider Jam with the SD card inserted -- simply insert SD card with power on as described in Step 3, then proceed to Step 5). Note: SD Card must be no larger than 2 GB capacity! Spider Jam Advanced Guide: For in-depth info on features and functionality of the Spider Jam not included in the Pilot's Handbook, check out: Spider Jam Advanced Guide. WARNING: BACK UP YOUR FILES! Here are the instructions on Saving and Loading the presets to and from the Spider Jam: STORING PRESETS Created a User Tone and Saved it to a user location. [*]LOADING PRESETS To transfer them back into the amp, go to the SAVE menu and choose the TRANSFER ALL FROM CARD option. This will load the recordings and the associated presets back onto the Spider Jam. Now, when you load a recording that was transferred onto the Spider Jam from the SD Card, the preset that was stored with the recording will be loaded with the recording. It will show in the SETTINGS/TONE menu with an asterisk (*) next to the name. To store this preset back into the Spider Jam User presets, go to the SAVE menu and select SAVE GUITAR TONE to store the preset in the User location you desire. Note: If you are updating from v1.04, you should back up your recordings by connecting a recording device to your Spider Jam RCA Outputs/JM4 Stereo Line Out (tape or hard disk recorder, computer sound card, etc.) then record them as you would any other recorded material in real time. (Tip: Record them in WAV format at 44.1, 16 bit mono; that way you can reload them into your Spider Jam later). Instructions for updating (also attached): 1. If you haven't done so already, download the latest firmware to your computer desktop from the Line 6 website (log in with your Line 6 User Name) here: Spider Jam 2.09 Firmware. The downloaded file will be named "fw.bin", with no number. Please save this to your desktop to easily find the file once the file has been downloaded. Note: You will need to delete any previous Spider Jam updates from your desktop prior to saving the Spider Jam 2.09 firmware, as the both devices will not recognize any firmware with an extension or name alterations. 2. Copy the downloaded fw.bin file to a blank SD card via an SD card reader. When the copy is complete, put the downloaded fw.bin file in a safe place on your PC for future reference -- for example, put it in a new folder labeled 'Spider Jam Flash', noting the version number. 3. Insert your SD card into the Spider Jam SD card slot. Note: Spider Jam owners running v1.04 should press and hold the SAVE button while powering up the Spider Jam (release SAVE after Spider Jam powers up from the SD card). 4. Press the SAVE button to display the menu items in the LCD if they aren't already displayed. 5. Turn the wheel and navigate to FIRMWARE UPGRADE at the bottom of the menu list then press Right Arrow to display the upgrade screen. 6. Press Up Arrow for YES to proceed with the update -- the Spider Jam or JM4 Looper will update itself from the SD Card. When the update is complete, the Spider Jam will power cycle itself. Note: Do not turn off power in the middle of the update! 7. Verify the update was successful by previewing a few Songs and Drum tracks (scroll thru the list; each track will play for a few seconds when you select it). 8. After verifying the update was successful, press the SAVE button again to display the menu list. 9. Turn the wheel and navigate to FORMAT CARD then press Right Arrow to display the format screen. 10. Press Up Arrow for YES and the Spider Jam/JM4 Looper will format the SD Card, preparing it for normal operation. 11. When formatting is complete, you're all set. If you ever want to reinstall your firmware, go back to your computer and copy the 'fw.bin' file to your SD Card, then repeat the above steps from Step 2. 12. If you want to load your backed up .WAV files into your Spider Jam again, simply copy them from your computer into the "LINE6" folder on your SD card using your SD card reader, then load them into your Spider Jam using the IMPORT WAV FILE FROM CARD command (consult the Spider Jam Advanced Guide for info on the option of viewing and loading your files via the SD Recordings Browser). If there is no LINE6 folder on the SD Card root directory, please create one. Format Alert: If your SD Card is rejected by the Spider Jam as not being FAT16, you should format your card and start over. See Format Instructions below. (Also attached) Mac OSX: Format SD Card to FAT16 1. Insert card into Mac via SD card reader 2.
