Helix/HX 3.80 (released November 19, 2024) includes 6 new amps, 4 new cabs, 1 new effect, and bug fixes and is strongly recommended for all users of Helix and HX. How do I update to 3.80? (except HX One) Updating Helix/HX Hardware With Helix/HX connected to your computer, launch HX Edit 3.82 (3.01 or higher), and make sure you're signed in. HX Edit knows when a new update is available and will walk you through the entire update procedure for both hardware and software, including backing up everything to your computer. IMPORTANT! If you're running HX Edit 3.00 or older, download HX Edit 3.82 and repeat step 1. HX Edit 3.82 (macOS): https://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=12926 HX Edit 3.82 (Windows): https://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=12927 If your Helix Floor/Rack/LT is currently running firmware 3.15 or older, halfway through the update to 3.80, Helix's LCD reads "Boot Failure. Entered Update Mode!" THIS IS NORMAL. Breathe deep, everything is fine. You're almost there. HX Edit will display a message indicating the device must be reset. Click resume and wait for the second part of the update to complete. Perform a factory reset. IMPORTANT! MAKE SURE YOU HAVE A BACKUP FIRST, AS A FACTORY RESET WILL ERASE ALL YOUR WORK! Helix Floor/LT: While holding footswitches 9 & 10 (bottom row, 2 middle switches), turn on Helix Floor/LT Helix Rack: While holding knobs 5 & 6 (2 furthest right knobs below the screen), turn on Helix Rack HX Effects: While holding footswitches 6 & TAP (2 farthest right switches on the bottom row), turn on HX Effects HX Stomp: While holding footswitches 2 & 3, turn on HX Stomp HX Stomp XL: While holding footswitches C & D, turn on HX Stomp OPTIONAL: Performing a factory reset loads the new 3.80 Factory Presets, but restoring from your backup will overwrite these. Spend some time exploring these and export the factory presets you want to keep (or drag them to your desktop). If you have unused setlists in Helix Floor/Rack/LT, you can also export the entire FACTORY 1 bundle for loading into an unused setlist later. From the top File menu, select Restore From Backup... If you don't have any important presets in Setlist 1, click the disclosure triangle next to Presets and uncheck the first setlist's box; this will retain 3.80's FACTORY 1 setlist. Select the backup file created in Step 1 and click Restore Backup. If you run into trouble, check out this link. Updating Helix Native Before updating Helix Native, it is highly recommended that you export a preset/setlist bundle. Click the gear icon in the lower left, select the Presets/IRs tab, and then click Export Bundle. Some hardware compatibility modes (HX Stomp, HX Stomp XL, HX Effects) do not have this feature as they have only one setlist. In these cases, at the top of the preset list, click the yellow EXPORT to export the setlist. Quit your DAW and download and install Helix Native 3.82: Helix Native 3.82 (macOS): https://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=12929 Helix Native 3.82 (Windows): https://line6.com/software/readeula.html?rid=12928 Open your DAW and open an instance of Helix Native. OPTIONAL: The only way to hear 3.80's new factory presets is to restore them. IMPORTANT! MAKE SURE YOU'VE EXPORTED A BUNDLE (OR ANY IMPORTANT SETLISTS) FIRST, AS RESTORING FACTORY SETLISTS WILL ERASE ALL YOUR WORK! Click the gear icon in the lower left, select the Presets/IRs tab, and then click Restore Factory Setlists. Click Yes. I updated but why don't I see [Model X] in HX Edit? HX Edit can't magically pull new model names and graphics from your Helix/HX hardware; you must update HX Edit as well (which you would've done had you followed "How do I update to 3.80?" above). My Helix/HX is at version X.XX. Can I go straight to 3.80? Yes, but note that if you're starting from 2.80 or lower, the update may appear to happen three times and will take notably longer than 30 minutes. This is normal. How do I set up the HX effects signal chain/fx block/mixer for 7cm? I'm struggling! What are the mixer and effects loops settings in the HX effects? Stereo? Dual mono? I'm using two amps, and want to set up so drives go into the front of the amp, and delays/reverbs in the fx loops. Main problems: - I don't know how the signal chain should be configured to set up 7 cable method into the fx loops of two amps. - Because the setup isn't correct, I currently get a lot of noise as both amps are sending the preamp to the other amp! Basically both preamps are blended on each amp. - How do I ensure delays and other effects are stereo - as in ping-pong delay etc. What are the mixer and effects loops settings in the HX effects? Stereo? Dual mono?

Hi! I have a problem with midi clock transmission via usb from the HX Stomp to iPad (i use AUM mixer app). AUM recognize HX Stomp as hardware interface but it seems that HX Stomp don't send any midi command via usb. I'm really frustrating because i would like to sync tempo via usb from XH Stomp to other plugin on AUM mixer (like delay or tremolo etc...). Can you please help me to resolve this issue? Thanks in advance

Hey, I was wondering if I can route this way: 1) Bass through the Main-Ins to Main-Out. 2) The In-ear-Mix (the signal that normally goes to the "Body-Pack") through the returns. 3) Listen via Headphone-Jack to both Bass and In-Ear-Mix. So far I got: 1) and 2) working correctly... but I only hear the bass through the headphone-jack - without the In-Ear-Mix (coming from Returns) :-( Can you guys help? Thank you in advance! Alex.

This is very odd...when I connect my HX Stomp to my Hotone Siva Boogie mini-amp, I get no sound at all?? This is my signal chain: Guitar > (mono In) HX Stomp (mono Out) > (Input) Hotone amp > Speaker. Pretty basic stuff. If I keep the same exact signal chain and just replace the HX Stomp with any random FX pedal, it works fine!? As far as HX Stomp settings, they're the same exact settings I use successfully with my Seymour Duncan Power Stage 170. All I did is replace the Power Stage 170 with Hotone amp so...what could be wrong?? Thx in advance!

Hi there, this might sound like a silly question, but I'm having hard times figuring out how to have my click sound in ProTools that I can hear in my HX stomp. So far, the best I can do is to select Microsoft MIDI Mapper [emulated] > channel 1 as metronome output, but then I get the click on the computer speakers, not in my earphones (plugged on the stomp). If I select Line 6 HX Stomp [emulated] > channel 1, then I don't hear anything at all. Any hints? Thank you!

Hi; My HX stomp sounds great but I have a problem because sometimes when I am moving any of both knobs the adjustment is modified becasue page, view or action switches are pressed. My feeling is that switches are very weak and I wonder if is it possible to replace them by better components. I have been looking for them in the web without success. Any help here?

sorry if this is a noob question, but... i'm wondering which Helix/HX can do parallel amp + effects chains where the entire "Right" from in to out and entire "Left" signal from in to out are discrete? to be more specific, i'm hoping to process my electric guitar through two different signal chains: 1) clean guitar amp (amp + cab) w/ reverb 2) polyphonic octave down > dirty bass amp (amp + cab) [for simulated bass sounds i have an active splitter pedal that i can place before whichever Helix/HX to send my unprocessed guitar signal into the two inputs, if needed.

Please help! Popping and banging when changing effects. Other glitches include: Poly sustain freaking out and sustaining previous chords, also a random global settings change where tapping up and down on bank mode just went through each bank individually rather than up/down a page. None of this happened before in previous software, also I re-installed previous firmware and it all worked normally. Have reset to factory multiple times (with and without using my old back ups) and updated using both Line 6 updater and HX Edit Update: after loads of updates and exploration i've found that it may just be when the Kinky Boost is selected, the reverbs bang when you scroll through them. Does anyone else have this issue?

hello! I just purchased a preset pack called "synthpads and drones" from marketplace and ...cannot upload my new presets on HX edit ( 3.51 is my hx edit AND 3.50 my hx stomp) I followed the steps of a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4r9BWU_WT_M but I get a message: " hx edit was unable to import these presets because the required licenses were not found. The following products are available for purchase from helix marketplace : 65667 " I tried to import the cabs also ,but I got the same message ... although I did not send the cab 90 for example to user slot 90...AND the cab files have NOT the .wav extension but they have .hir instead ( 090 LX TDR HG1.hir) Do I miss something?? Thanks in advance!

Some users have reported getting an error message when installing Line 6 product drivers on Windows 10 or 11. The error message will mention that Line 6 drivers are not being recognized or are being blocked after installation. The best workaround for this is to disable Memory Integrity under Windows security settings. You can find this feature under Windows Security > Device Security > Core Isolation details. See this article from Microsoft for further details: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/device-protection-in-windows-security-afa11526-de57-b1c5-599f-3a4c6a61c5e2 This is a known issue to our team, and for now the best option is to disable Memory Integrity as a work-around. We will continue to monitor this issue for our driver releases.

Hello all, Wanted to see if you all could help me with this...so I typically use my stomp with just one expression pedal with a TRS Cable, and all works great. I attempted today to use a second EXP in conjunction with the first one, using a Y-split cable (tip & sleeve into one exp pedal, and ring & sleeve into the other). To my surprise, this didn't work the way I expected. Using either exp pedal going one full sweep starting from heel to then toe position, the stomp reads 0% to 100% only halfway through the sweep, then goes back down to 0%...at the toe position..?! So for one motion of my foot from heel to toe, the stomp goes 0% to 100% to 0%. I am baffled to say the least and I have tried changing every settings for EXP in the Global Settings but he has yet worked. If you guys have had experience with this issue, please let me know. Thanks

Hi, I am a new HX user, and I like it a lot, but still I miss the "amp in the room" feel after a while so I tried to use it with traditional (non-FRFR) cab. My setup is HX Stomp -> Clean Pedal Platform (AC30ish Dr. Z amp) -> 2x12" cabinet with V30s. The problem is HX stomp amp block sounds wrong with every combination I tried. In FX loop sounds horribly dull (lacks clarity, dynamics, even with high end and presence maxed), straight to the front of the amp it sounds horribly shrill even with treble and presence on 0. I used both Preamp/Amp blocks in both cases, the results are similar. Also it's noticeable not only for high-gain models, but clean and mid gain too. Also I tried both OUT and SEND in case they have different output impedances, but the results are the same. Changing Instrument/Line level did not help either. So my question is next - is it my amp loop not taking HX in return properly? I'm starting to regret selling my Dual Rectifier because the tone I'm dialing in with current setup is nowhere near the real thing. Have you used your HX/Helixes with in returns of traditional amps with traditional cabs? If you had any success - what was your power amp that worked well with HX/Helix? PS. Stomp boxes are great though, I A/B'ed them with their real life counterparts (OCD, TS808, Boss DS-1/2, etc.) and they were so close that I wouldn't be able to tell which one is which in a blind test.

Does anyone know if this is possible? I bought an HX stomp to use with physical pedals. I already have great sounding patches on my PodGO, but would love to find a way to convert PodGO patches (,pgp) to the HX format (.hlx) without having to manually recreate them. Is there a JSON hack to achieve this? Thanks!

Hi, Is there a way to use a real amp head in the signal flow of a HX stomp such that the cabinet is emulated by the HX and the real amp make no noise other than in my headset ? I live in an appartement in NYC and I can only play with headphones. So I was wondering if I could send the signal to a JCM 800 (main input from hx fx send and jcm cabinet output to hx fx return. Is there a risk of blowing up the Hx ?

Hello. I bought a new HX Stomp XL a few weeks back. I updated firmware to 3.15. What I noticed first is that my factory built presets do not have friendly names, like with "DIR" prefix in the name. I see all named like preset1, preset2, .. Is there a way to get factory list of presets that I can import to my Stomp XL? Thanks.

Is there a way to change the preset while the tuner is on? Live, between 2 songs, I switch the tuner on and would like to change the preset while the sound is muted in the tuner mode. But I can't find a way to do this...

Hello, bought a brand new HX Stomp. It won't connect to my pc (Windows 7 x64). Problems found: - USB Audio Device has a driver problem. - HX Stomp doesn't have a driver. Are the driver available for download somewhere? None of the software provided, in the Downloads section of Line6's webpage, are able to "see" my HX Stomp.

Hi there, everyone. I hope you all are healthy and had a good winter holiday and a smooth transition into 2022 ! I recently bought a HX Stomp. I use footswitch number 3 as Stomp 3 (set up in "Global settings") so footswitch 3 doesn't do tap tempo or access the tuner. For some presets I'd like to have footswitch 3 work as tap tempo for the delay time. I set up my delay time to 1/1 notes. In the Command center I set footswitch 3 to send MIDI CC , set the CC# to 64 and the value to 127. Still the delay time doesn't react to the tap tempo. If someone could tell me what I'm missing/doing wrong? Thanks in advance for your suggestions. Regards, Tobias

from the download menu - if you select HX Edit to download and windows 10 you get the MAC version. .DMG file. Not windows. I downloaded the windows 7 version to get an EXE file. Please fix Line 6.

So it’s just… HX Stomp, but with more touch footswitches and all the jacks on the back? For $150 more? Yes. …Why? Because customers asked for more switches. Or kept finding clever—but way less elegant or integrated—ways to add more switches. And it was relatively easy. We’re not going to pretend it’s the most innovative product we’ve ever designed but for some customers, it’s the goldilocks form factor. Thanks, but my personal needs require a Variax input, twice the DSP, and six switches, not eight. Why didn’t you give me exactly what I want? <exasperated sigh> So it’s like the size of two HX Stomps? If you omit the space required for jacks on the side (even pancake jacks), more like 1-2/3 Stomps. It’s 12.5” wide (vs. HX Stomp’s 7” width). Depth and height are virtually identical. Does it add anything else? Hands-free Pedal Edit mode (tweak presets with your feet), 128 presets vs.126, four snapshots per preset vs. three, and you can access the 6 Switch Looper without needing a MIDI controller. Other than that, it is HX Stomp with 5 extra switches. Does it have the Command Center? Absolutely. In fact, a big reason HX Stomp got the Command Center in 3.0 is because we had already done the work for HX Stomp XL. Wait, what happened to the Volume knob? We moved it to the back panel to save room. It’s spring loaded so you can recess it into the chassis to keep your cables from accidentally turning it. Can I use third-party power supplies? Yes. Any power supply that works with HX Stomp should work fine with HX Stomp XL. Can it load HX Stomp presets? Yep, just drag ‘em in via HX Edit. It can also load Helix, Helix Rack+Control, Helix LT, Helix Native, and HX Effects presets, as long as they contain 8 or fewer blocks on a single DSP path. What are the reset options? Hold these button combinations while powering up the HX Stomp XL: 1. FS ^, C & D: clears all presets/IRs 2. FS ^+C: resets presets and IRs 3. FS C+D: factory restore (globals, presets, IRs) 4. Page >: Update mode. This update mode is helpful if the update is interrupted, and the HX Stomp will not boot properly. You will see a blank screen (no visual feedback on the display). 5. Upper & Lower Knobs: Rebuild presets. Wait for "Will Rebuild Presets..." to appear and let go. Can backup files be exported/imported between HX Stomp and HX Stomp XL? No, the backup file is not compatible across HX Stomp and Stomp XL. If you would like to move your presets, IRs, etc. You would need to manually export the individual files and import them into the other device. You can also connect both devices to HX Edit simultaneously and then drag and drop the files across HX Edit windows. Both versions of HX Stomp or HX Stomp XL should be on the same firmware version for dragging and dropping to function. What is the impedance of the send/return jacks? It is 1.2k to 1.5k Ohms.

Hi all, I would like to know if is possible to use 4 Cable Method & FX Loop at same time on the HX Stomp. Anyone have tried this? What do I need to do this? I always have to change my cables when I'm playing in different places, so I want to let the connections ready and just plug the cables, more specifically, I'll use 100% of time my pedals on the FX Loop (cuz I use it after a comp), and when I need to use the 4 Cable Method, I just want to plug the cables to and from the amp. Kind regards Gabriel
