  1. Hi there, since a few months now, I'm using my HX stomp and I love it. Yet, I'm still unsure in what speaker I should plug my new baby in. I have a Spider Jam which doesn't have any FX loop so it's a no as it is hard to have a neutral sound on this. And I have my drums amp (a Roland PM-10), which is so far the amp I'm using through the line input :-) I play mostly at home, and I'd like to have the best sound of my pedal at home, and since it has built-in amp & cabinet simulations, my understanding is that the most neutral speaker ("PA" ?) should be used, rather than a fancy amp with its own personality. I don't know how neutral my PM-10 can be, and I'm not familiar with the PA thing, so can you tell me what kind of speaker can I use to have something which doesn't level down my HX stomp ? I'd like to have get a speaker at a reasonable price, and which takes a reasonable amount of space :-) Many thanks
  2. I was looking for recommendations or tips about how to get the most out of my Helix LT, keeping in mind I am not a professional musician. I have my Helix LT and I have it plugged in directly into the instrument input of a Boss Katana 100 amp. I want to get the best sound possible out of my Helix so would I be better suited to buy a PA speaker of some kind like the HeadRush or something to that affect or better speakers directly into my PC and bypass the amp all together? Or would anything not really make a significant difference compared to what I am already doing?
  3. Hello, I'm having trouble getting the sound I was hoping for on the Helix, and I need some help. I'm sure it's my lack of experience with gear and effects that's the problem, not the Helix. I watched all the Jason Sadites videos and regularly read through this forum, and I do seem to be SLOWLY getting closer, but I also wonder if there is not something more fundamental wrong with my setup or settings - like guitar, monitor speakers, amp choice, etc. Here's how I'd describe the sound I'm going for: Warm, smooth, thick, rich clean tone, with some reverb/spaciousness, and a little overdrive to give it a soaring quality. I tend to prefer smoothness and warmth to pinpoint clarity and accuracy, and I definitely don't like twangy sounds. - My guitar. I have an American Elite Strat. It's great, but the single coils are probably at odds with my tonal goals. I use the neck pickup exclusively, but want it to be even more "neck-pickup-like" if that makes sense. The bridge pickups sound unusably harsh and twangy to my ears through the Helix. - I have monitor speakers connected to the Helix as my "amp". Yamaha HS7's - they are nice monitors, but possibly not as guitar "amp" and this may be part of the problem. - Over headphones, I get closer to the sound I'm looking for. Things sound spacious and rich in comparison to the monitor speaker setup. - I get a harsh digital sounding tone anytime I use a delay block. This is not as important as the main tone issue, but it is pretty pronounced, and maybe this gives a clue to what's going on. Weirdly, ping pong delay is the only one I've found that doesn't have this problem as bad. - The sound was way too harsh and digital sounding until I turned on the global EQ and dialed down the high cut to a low level, around 5kHz - Using ribbon mic's on the cabinets helps immensely as well. I've not otherwise messed with trying different cabs or cab settings... - I've experimented with different amp models, and some work better than others, but the base fenders work the best: US Double vib/nrm. - Before Helix, I used a Yamaha THR10C, and found the chorus effect to give that smooth rich sound. (it doesn't actually sound like a chorus, and I only mention this in case anyone has experience with this) Appreciate the help!! Attached is a tone example (excuse my intermediate-lollipop playing) and also a settings file in case that's useful. Thanks, JoelMAIN Headphones.hlx Test Sound Clip Main Headphones.m4a

  5. Hi, wondered if anyone had any suggestions. So I'm using the HX effects for bass into a Darkglass Vintage Microtubes 500 amp. The amp has an intelligent footswitch for going between clean, vintage microtubes circuit, B3K circuit, and mute (4 buttons). When trying to use an effects loop on the HX effects through the loop send/return on the amp, it is bypassing the footswitch somehow, so I can't change between the onboard distortions or mute the amp. This doesn't happen with 2 cable method (no loop) and didn't happen using individual effects in the loop... any ideas?
  6. Hi Guys. I've bougt my new HELIX and moving my first steps to learn and use it! I am interested in using it with my Hughes and Kettner Grandmaister 36, in particular connecting Helix to amp's FX Loop return, so using my tube amp only as power amp. The question is not about other ways to connect… I know the 4CM, I know connection in front of amp…I know that everyone has his own preferences….but my necessity is to connect in the amp's fx loop return. OK… I've a simple question, becouse I've read tons of articles, posts, spent hours on YouTube videos… but without finding the answer :) If I connect from HELIX 1/4 mono out to amp's FX Loop return,.....what should I select in global settings INS/OUTS? Instrument or Line? Thanks for your attention and feedbacks!
  7. Hey guys, Can i still download tones from the Custom tone section for my largely obsolete Spider Valve mk2? I don't see my amp pictured anymore so wondering is it still supported, if so can i just download tones for another amp?
  8. One of my idiot sons friend thought it would be a wonderful ideal to take my marshall head speakers out and plug directly into my spiders guitar inputs. Naturally blowing the spider amp sky high. Anybody can guide me into which board i should be looking at. Opened amp up and to my surprise they are only a couple of boards in amp. Man any help would be greatly appreciated.
  9. I'm considering purchasing an HX stomp and know that it can do some of the scenarios I want to use with it but I'm not sure about this one. I could figure this out myself in a couple seconds if I owned the pedal but I'm trying to decide if this is possibly before I make the purchase. TLDR: Can you run an amp/cab block on one side of a signal chain only and allow the other to go out unprocessed. The point would be to run a stereo rig with a real amp on one side and a modeled amp on the other. I know that I can do this if I run my entire pedalboard as it exists into the HX stomp acting just as Amps - then I could plug one pedalboard output into the Stomp and one into my amp. Easy. However, I really want the HX stomp to be fully integrated with my pedalboard. I want to run my signal chain as Guitar > Comp > Drive Pedals > HX Stomp > Stomp FX Loop Send > Stereo Delay > Stereo Reverb > Stomp FX Loop Return > Pedalboard out If I do this it lets me add additional effects before or after my delay/reverb or put my delay/reverb after the amp sims if I'm running direct. It also lets me make patches with no amps to run my pedalboard into real amps. However, there is a specific use where I want to run a single real amp and a modeled amp as the other side of the stereo chain. Can I do this within the editor/interface? I would need to put an amp block on the right side signal only. Thanks and sorry if this has been answered - Searching for "Stomp Amps Left Only" or Right Only doesn't give any useful search results...

    HX Stomp into an Amp

Hello, So my main option for now is to use the HX Stomp as another pedal in my pedalboard (mainly for modulation effects like delay, reverb, tremolo, etc..). I have some questions about the overdrive section. How good or which OD in the HX Stomp sounds good when using a tube amp?.. Im gonna upload a photo of my pedalboard for reference. My other question is... Im using a Tumnus mini and I would like to know if its a good idea to usa a booster from the HX Stomp or buy an analog booster?. Im using a Fender Blues Deluxe Tube Amp and the HXS is connected with the 4CM so I can put my modulations through the amp's effects loop.
  11. Hello, I was wonderwing if with the HX Stomp i can get 1 signal chain with effects/amp modeling/IR impulse to go to the FOH, and a second signal with just effects/amp modeling to my power amp and cab (so without IR impulse). Thanks in advance!! Greetz Wouter
  12. I just purchased a helix like a week ago and I’m starting to get the hang of it. I’ve been watching tutorials and and reading forums. My question was, does it matter where in the signal path I place the amp or cabs? Does it make a difference? Everything I’ve read or watched, people just seem to place it somewhere in the middle. Or do you have to think of it like a real pedal board, where the amp comes last? Please help.
  13. Hey All, I was watching this YT vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FjEolSe71Jw At the beginning of the vid, the guy explains his signal chain and says that he's "...hooked the POD directly into the power amp section of the Blues Deluxe bypassing the whole tone stack. The Pre Amp is gone and he can't even control the volume using the amp's controls...". Can some of the more experienced folks tell me is this is the same as using an amp's F/X loop? And, if anyone has a BD, is this a typical "feature" of the amp or is it something that's most probably a post purchase mod? Thanks! Bill
  14. My POD HD500X is rebooting every time I try to change an amp model in my patches. What should I do to solve this problem? Can someone help me?
  15. Hi there, I'm fairly new to audio production, and have just purchased a Pod Studio UX2 for my mic setup and I'm looking to invest in some quality headphones. From what I understand the higher the Ohm range of the headphones the more power they require and if underpowered there volume may be bottleknecked. My UX2 is connected to a desktop, and I was wondering if connecting the headphones (I'm looking at a pair of Beyerdynamic DT 880 Pro's) to the output of my UX2 would provide enough power to get good, loud sound? Thanks Billy

    Fender Clean?

I've always really liked the sound of my 8-string through a clean fender amp (usually a Fender Deluxe) with the pickups set to single coil, but I can't quite seem to recreate that sound in the Helix. It's got a certain tightness and "slap" that just doesn't come through when I try messing with the fender amps in the Helix. I even tried using my own Fender Twin cab IRs. I need something crisp and spanky but still clean, can anyone tell me what to do?
  17. Hey folks, I have a dual amp patch that I'm working on, but I can't seem to figure out how to bypass amp #1 by pushing the footswitch assigned to amp #2, and vice versa.
  18. Hello everybody. I recently noticed that I cannot save the effects that I use for my microphone after closing POD Farm 2.59 and all I get is dry sound with no changes. I am trying to find a way to make this happen or a similar solution but I havent found it yet neither on internet or in the app settings. I hope anyone could help me fixing this, would be really appreciated! Thank you all! :) My specs are: -POD Studio UX2 -Audio-Technica AT2020 Cardioid Condenser -Windows 10 64-Bit
  19. Hello, I recently bought a Gibson Les Paul and Line 6 V60 amp from guitar center. I'm having trouble with editing the options in the amp to match the tone of some of the songs that I want to learn and cover. Is there a place where I can learn about what each effect, settings ,etc does. I tried doing Since I've Been Loving You, Archilles Last Stand, Sweet Child of Mine, and Jimmy Hendrix songs but I have a hard time figuring out what I need to do. I know experience plays a big role but I really have no one that I can turn to for help/advice to help me get started. Did I mess up on my gear selection? I've literally spent hours researching online what a particular artist uses for a particular song and then try to find the right settings on my amp using the spider app but I always get stuck. Any suggestions would like tutorials, or at least gear recommendations would help. I can't go out and buy things right away but what are some essential things that I can add in the future that will help with my guitar experience? Thanks!
  20. I was thinking of using the ext amp on the Helix LT as a footswitch to control the Boss RC3. I don't have the RC3 yet but would like to know if it is possible.
  21. Dear Line 6, Is the FireHawk 1500 support or enhancements dead?????? You have such an awesome underdeveloped product here. The majority of the needs are in software and editability settings and with the FVB 3. I love the amp but it is a 63.14 lb. Living Room Brick. Because of the lack of editing for live performances. Please step up and enhancement the product. You have very skilled people on your team that are real players. They know what is needed. Guys isn't all about the Helix, Helix LT, Helix Stomp, Helix Effect. You won't get us to buy any of these or future products when you ignore our other stuff. PS I've had your stuff from the very beginning. You are bring in all these new product and your attention to the other products had slipped. There hasn't been an update or enhancement even on your Varaix other than the Suriken. Absolutely nothing for a very long time. People spend the money on your type of products because there is an expectation of enhancement. Both by design within software and electronic. FH1500, JTV-69, FVB3, X3Live, POD, POD farm
  22. I've been trying for about 2 days to no success. I followed all the steps on the Cubase Help site that and set the driver to the spider and the inputs to the spider as well but when I press record nothing happens. Can someone please help set me up? I have no idea how to record my amp on Cubase Le
  23. Question: HOw do you guys play all this amp, preamp, cabinet presets with a real amp? Can't figure it out. Do you run with a mixer or? Example: I practise and play on stage with a Blackstar ID260. Got everything turned down to the NO effect channel. Connect my Helix with the input of the amp. Now, all preset models in the Helix with an amp, or preamp sound horrible. Only thing to do is get rid of this stuff. I don't want to use the 4cm because of plug and play gigs. How do I get this really heavy sound?
  24. I'm trying to get more signal to my Mic path output. Preamps alone don't have enough umph. So what amp will give me natural flat boost without distortion?
  25. Any hope of convincing the developers to add a Fryette Deliverance 60/120 amp sim with the more and less gain channels, Deliverance 2/4x12 with Fane speakers? Seems to me like it could be a good addition without doubling up what's already there. I'd be in favor of the Sig:X too! Also, seems like an HM-2 Boss Heavy Metal pedal sim would be fun too! Thoughts? Or bubble bursts?
